heat soak is real!
Went to street car takeover this last weekend in Noble Oklahoma. temps were 92 degrees, DA was 3255 so you know how hot the track was getting. Car could never cool down between passes and the BEST I could run during the heat of the day was 12.05 @ 115mph!!! :mad0260:
granted it cooled off that evening and everything was "back to normal" but man heat soak is very real with these cars! Looks like it may be time for methanol already..... |
Heat soak is real with any car. And the ZL1 is nothing compared to the HC and def not an issue compared to Mustangs. BTW, what exactly were your IATs that night?
|
Can you read IAT1 and IAT2 in the stock display?

Just curious, but what was the settings you used for PTM? I live in Florida and the only time I pulled a number like that was because I left the PTM in Wet mode.
|
I haven’t noticed any. Unlike the POS Gen V ZL1. I had to ration my WOT roll runs or all power was gone. SMH.
|
Hmmm. Last month I drove 85 miles to the dragstrip, went straight to Tech, then straight to the burnout box and trapped 128 mph. "Stock"
Track mode / Sport 1 |

Being in GA most of the time, I’ve never had a boosted car without methanol injection. It works wonders for cooling the intake charge down and some power.

Everyone is quoting trap speeds without saying what their PTM settings were. It makes a huge difference. I ran a 12 something at 114 because I left PTM on "Wet". Fixed that and on my next run went 123mph all this in the Florida heat hot lapping without cool down.
