Do you still use a landline in your home?

I have never owned a landline phone. When we built our home. I told the builder not to even put phone lines in the house. He did anyway because it was "code". Yeah, that's code for some lobbyist made that decision for me! :sm0:

I just read a story that said 35.8% of the USA does not have landline phones.

15.9% still have landlines, but they never or rarely use them.

That means 48.2% of people still have landlines and are using them as their main source of phone communication! I thought it would be less!

We have them just because of our business is ran from home (we have a horse farm where we live). so mainly just business calls come to the landline...however when I'm at school in college our condo only has our cell phone...so no landline.

I have both.....if for no other reason just to have 911 capabilities.....and I can always give the house number to businesses so they don't get my cell number.

I only use the house phone for taking messages and give the number out so I dont get spammed on the cell.
but ATT has steadily raised it every year to now the house phone is over $30 per month ugghhh.
my kid is almost 30 and never had a landline, I may do the same this year.

Going on 7 years without a landline.

There is still a landline set of phones in the house, but they are mostly for lengthy calls, in order to reduce minute use.

On a side note, I just got a smartphone worthy of the internet. I had a normal sized and so-so performing android phone, but only the mobile sites were worth the hassle. I just got a galaxy note 2 today and its like using a tablet as a phone. Going from a single core to quad core phone is like going from a prius to a corvette. This phone has twice the RAM of my old computer. Lol

Technology is only going to make landlines more and more obsolete as time goes on.

It might good to have if you sell the house. The buyer like to have a land line wired.

Just cell phones for the past 12 years
