Best Cornerback Ever? Deion Sanders

I forget how I stumbled into his highlight clips, but it made me remember how dangerous this guy was.

Look, I think he is annoying and all that, but holy hell Sanders was the best pure cover guy I have ever seen. And yes, as I study years of fight films I study football films as well. Just an amazing talent and IMO the best CB ever.

Rod Woodson was better

I agree. There was no better cover man than him.

I respect your opinion (Woodson was also HOF cover guy), but you are dreaming on that one.

rebelyell22 09-05-2015 10:56 PM

I'd rather have Rod on my team. He was the total package

Deion for sure

LMAO.....

It's not even remotely close.....

It's like him on one level and everyone else you think is a great corner is on a totally different level.....

Neon Deon Ole'd so many tackles he should have been a Matador;)

Rod Woodson brought his lunch pail and if he didn't get the Int he laid the WR out.

Dion didn't need to tackle. If the ball was thrown his way, it was getting picked off, or tipped at the very least.

I have to agree with the majority, it's Deion Sanders, and then everyone else.

Deion was definitely the flashiest, but I believe Darrel Green needs to be in the conversation!!!

Deion Sanders got beat his fair share of times because he lacked the ability to tackle. I'll take Champ Bailey in his prime over Sanders in his mostly due to the fact that "IF" someone had the ball near Bailey at least he could stop them. If you want to drop the CB title and just talk about the best defender in the secondary, I'm taking Ed Reed hands down. He was the most dangerous defender I've ever seen when the ball was thrown.

That's funny. Out of the 188 games he played how many have you watched?

I've seen all of them.

Hell my ex wife use to comment "I don't know why you watch these games....they never throw on his side of the field and they never kick him the ball".

I watched, like many, for the few times they did.

I've watched a good majority of them and know he was a finesse CB but couldn't tackle. It's like people trying to say that Randy Moss is the best WR of all time but he was always scared of going across the middle and getting hit. Deion was not the total package in terms of a CB and being a great athlete is different from being the best at that position.

Bottom line is everyone has their opinions and no one can really say who the best of all time is. I also had Woodson in mind and when Darrel Green was mentioned there can be an argument made there.

PoorMansCamaro 09-06-2015 11:33 PM

but people are adding "best athlete" and "drop the CB title". the title says best CB. There's really no competition. People can have different opinions, but they would be wrong. j/k
