Vin Number Production

Ok I have been researching and I think I am a little confused. Do the last few digits of my vin symbolize the production number of that model year. My last few digits for my 2015 are F9100039 so does that mean I have the 39th Camaro built for the 2015 model year?

I bought it used. It is silver with recaros, Nav, 2ss, RS, NPP, no sunroof. I have no idea on the build date

Ok , it is on the 1LE Registry website . I would have to say it is # 39 for the model 2015 year .

Sweet! I guess that means that there is one more thing to brag about on this car

If you have a 1LE there is no need to brag.

The problem with using the VIN for build order is that after the ZL1 and Z/28 Camaros came out the order got all screwed up. They had special sequencing that was outside of the normal final 6 numbers of the VIN. OP, you definitely have a low build number, but it may be a little higher than 39 if there were any ZL1 or Z/28 cars built before yours.

If you open the drivers side door there are labels there that will have your build date , also under the hood find the fuse box and look down lower on the cradle of the car and there will be a label with date and time .

AFAIK, The vins of all the 5th gens are still sequential within their sequence, but when the 6th gens came out they share vins with all the cars coming down the line which includes more types than just Camaros.

Only the 2010s had sequential numbers, IIRC.
After that all the 5th gens were mixed with the other cars coming down the line.
The sticker on the frame rail was applied when the front sub-frame was produced, not when the car was completed.

Z/28s were sub-contacted out and have unique serial numbers.

Bingo ! For years now everyone says the sub-frame date is the build date. It's not always the case.
It can be days after that date.
