Cyber Gray Metallic Delayed Until April

According to the CamaroZ28.Com Co-Founder

Quote:

This just in, the 2010 Camaro in Cyber Gray Metallic (the color I ordered mine in, and the second most popular color according to our poll conducted for Chevrolet, has been delayed slightly.

The issue is the final builds of the Impala of the Dark Tarnished Silver color (which is to be replaced by Cyber Gray Metallic). Impala has to complete the build of their remaining Dark Tarnished Silver orders and the Impala Oshawa plant has to be shut down before they can switch over to Cyber Gray Metallic. From what I am told, the Impala build schedule for Cyber Gray Metallic starts in late April which is assumed that is when the 2010 Camaros in Cyber Gray will also start.

Am I bummed? A little bit. Not a ton. I would rather wait and get the color that I want and to me, it will be worth the wait. I am sure some people will sigh and say something to the effect of "another delay". Can't blame them but AFAIK, it is only one color. http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=667718

UCF w00t 02-11-2009 09:58 AM

Lame but not a big surprise.

RickRay 02-11-2009 10:02 AM

We need someone from the Oshawa Plant to confirm this.

eggydoo 02-11-2009 10:17 AM

who are his sources?

Croathlete 02-11-2009 10:17 AM

Well, hopefully for those that ordered CGM, the delay will allow time for ABL to be included in our cars.

SWHCPA 02-11-2009 10:20 AM

The changeover in paint colors has been confirmed in other threads on this site. The CGM Camaro will not be produced until the current Impala color run is complete. This is the same issue on the Camaro white as the current color run has to be completed first.

Patience, grasshopper. Patience.

His friend's brother's daughter's best friend's acquaintance, duh!

fad1 02-11-2009 10:22 AM

Dude if it's Jason from Cz28.com, trust me, his word is good.

Jack 02-11-2009 10:41 AM

I spoke w/ Cheryl Pilcher at NAIAS who shared this with me. I also asked Jason @ z28.com to confirm (and he did). I didn't want to put something out there and have folks get upset without doing a 'double-take'.

Jack

Jason is one of the focus group members (disciples), isn't he? I'd assume what he says is right on.

His podcast was where Chevy released pricing, with John and Cheryl, so I think his sources are pretty good. :bonk:

Camaro_Corvette 02-11-2009 11:24 AM

I think we already knew this:iono:

Mr. Wyndham 02-11-2009 11:36 AM

April is the 'confirmed' date of the Cyber Gray production. Jason over there knows what he's talking about (he was/is a "disciple".)

Yup; we were informed of this as well. In fact, I believe TAG UR IT tried to convey that point yesterday at some point.......:iono:

Not a big deal...call it a "minor setback" for Cyber Gray.

Didn't we know about this issue in January? They were talking about having to finish out the tarnished silver color for a long time.

Its not biggie to me.... we'll be fine.

Croathlete 02-11-2009 11:40 AM

I just hope it's early April instead of late April...

It was more of a rumor at that point. All we knew was that they hadn't produced suffiecient gray Impala's to replace the paint with Cyber Gray. I believe the Impala line was shut down for a few weeks? That is more likely than not the reason for this delay on Cyber Gray.

Later April based on current assesments.

This is, unfortunatley, one of the things manufacturers sometimes run into when producing more than one vehicle at the same plant...

:word:

And I stuck the info in the middle of a thread yesterday, so no one really got to see it. But I, too, said that CGM won't be sprayed until April.

nester7929 02-11-2009 12:01 PM

No big. April will be here before y'all know it.

Yes, this is old news.

Moose 02-11-2009 12:03 PM

Be patient. ;) It'll be well worth the wait.

Badger 02-11-2009 12:08 PM

Oh Well..changed my order...This will not stop me from getting one in the first run. color is a factor for me , but I love this car in a variety of combo's...I will be happy with my new choice... Tag...have you heard anything on the..all stripes being done at the factory rumor?? Thanks (Doh...off topic I know)

PQ 02-11-2009 12:40 PM

Damn. I geussed March 16th on the other thread.

radz28 02-11-2009 12:44 PM

Better late than never ;)

CamaroFan1 02-11-2009 12:45 PM

I thought CGM was one of the top two ordered colors. Why wouldn't GM delay another less popular color instead? :iono:

OR - STOP MAKING IMPALAS AND SELL CARS YOU HAVE ORDERS FOR!!!

It's not that I'm biased or anything..... since I did order a CGM. :D

Since I'm one of the last allocations at my dealer, with the last color, it may be 2010 before I get my car.......

Can we get a CGM clock at the top of the page.....

If it is CGM, it gets delayed too. I want to get the guy in front of me out of the way as soon as possible!

Actually, you should hope they are, unless you are also want CGM. If there is a constraint on CGM, your dealer would be smart to move other cars ahead in the line to get those built with his monthly allowance while people wait for the CGM contraint to be lifted.

I chose CGM as well. Although if the dealer called me and said "you can be #1 if you wanna change your color" I'd probably switch to SIM.

GTAHVIT 02-11-2009 02:30 PM

Guys,

We've known about this for a while. What is new is the fact that we will be seeing them in April. So the constraint on CGM is only about a month. Not too bad. Before we had no idea how long it was gonna take.

LarkVille 02-11-2009 02:38 PM

Wow you guys are taking this awfully well considering the general reaction to the ambient lighting issues. I find both issues to be unacceptable and the result of poor decision making. But that's just me.

^^ this is why I made the color change...good luck to all.

ZZcamaro 02-11-2009 03:51 PM

I was told there were no constraints at this point...Am I losing my mind? I will say that if this is true and the ABL falls through, I am going to be one very unsatisfied customer.

Agreed, the Impala CMG launch might be set in April because they're going to make the CMG Camaros first.
