Cost of Body Ports Installs?

I have some imperfect paint on my Camaro, and I was wondering if I could cut that off of my car and replace with ports, like the ones from ACS or 3dCarbon. Of course, that means I need more parts, paint, and help with install.

For those of you that did ports, how much did that run you to have a shop do it?

nobody wants to help a mod out huh?

I don't think cutting is actually too hard tbh. might be worth a try

My camaro has the ACS T3 ports. I had a local shop paint them and I installed them. You need to remove the fascia. I placed mine on two saw horse stands padded with styrofoam to prevent damage while I cut the port openings. If you're doing the T3's, they should come with a template and basic installation instructions. You will need some clamps and a cutting tool. I used my Dremel. The cutting was super easy, just be sure you get the template exact on both side.

I appreciate the input. :thanks: I don't have a Dremel, so that's why I was considering letting a shop do this one. I'm considering the 3dCarbon fender vents, but I'm just gathering info. They include a template, too.

The 3D Carbon fender vents are easy to install if you don't mind cutting into your car. I did mine with a cut off wheel on a angle grinder.. You just have to take your time so you don't melt the paint too bad. If I did them again I would use an air saw (I didn't have it at the time). Make sure you paint all the bare edges so it doesn't corrode. I also used a seam sealer around the inside of the whole vent to be safe.

You can probably buy a dremel for less than a shop will charge labor-wise. lol

That may be the case, although I'd then have to find more uses for it.

You'd be surprised at the things you can use a Dremel on. It is one of the handiest tools I've ever owned. They literally make about 100 different bits for the thing.

:clock: It's time to revisit this topic.

I have some beautiful ACS primed bumper ports and am interested in anyone's experiences painting them. What did you do?

I painted mine off the car and then just simply cut out the holes and dropped them i place. Was fairly easy and painless. Paint matching would be the hardest part depending on how many variances in paint codes.

and then glued and clamped in place.

Yours came out incredible! I’m planning to paint mine satin or matte black.

Did yours come primed? Did you apply new primer or just paint?

Mine didn't come primed so quick coat of primer and then paint.

Seems like such a long time ago. Don't have this setup anymore
