Need Help with Garage Floor Plans
 

Hey guys, well the time has finally come, I need to build another garage:thumbup:.

I was hopeing that somebody may have some plans they are willing to share or can possibly point me in the direction of some plans so I can start designing my new play area.

The area I figure I have to work with would allow me to build a 60' long x 40' deep building and need it to be tall enough for a lift. The plans don't have to be exactly 60x40, any thing in that general size will work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My shop is 40x60
A few things I did built up to foundation so I could build out the second floor for another 400 sqft without having to make any changes (just frame and go). Added bonus room trusses above the second floor added 200 sqft and hides all furnaces easy access with pull down ladder. I also added pluming in the foundation, just because it cost pennies to do and you never know. It's tall enought to add a shed sytle roof to 3 of the sides an never effect any of the upstairs windows or main roof. I could add another 2000 sqft with out any engineering needed, because I did it on the front end. one section of the floor was poured 12" thick for a large lift

I'm a builder...one thing I suggest is to overbuild it. If you build a straight gable to gable roof, beef up certain rafters to accommodate shed roof bump-outs later, if you wish, for more room upstairs. Go with a stronger foundation to hold second story live load areas, and design the roof that way. Even if you don't do it now, you may do it later. This way, your structure is built to take all the remodeling in the future.

My brother was the builder, but I sat down with an engineer to build it for the future. Leaned my leason after doing my first shop.

Put in a sink and toilet!

Put a shower in ! At the end of a long day working on the car, you may not want to track all that stuff into your daily driver. It also comes in handy when crap falls in your eyes and hair to wash them out a lot easier. Install an industrial air compressor in a separate room and insulate the walls for sound. Install an alarm system! Oh and don't tell your friends about it or you will never get them to leave, LOL

Google Draw (?) is a free auto CAD program.

I have a copy of Microstation 95, but it would "against the law" if i was to mail it to you.... you load it on your machine, then you send it back to me.
You might find a copy on ebay. It's a fairly easy program to use.

I bought a garage kit from Sutherlands years ago. I ended up recreating their shitty plans. Planned to see if they might buy them from me.

I do some auto CAD also, but sounds like Colin might be your man.
