Has anyone run the crossover wires into the interior door pocket, next to the speaker. Looks like a better place, safe, dry and accessible. I am going to give it a go tomorrow.

So what do you guys think of the Kicker DS mid & tweeter since the install? How do they sound?

If getting the metra adapters, they don't fit the JL c2 650 speakers. Just a heads up.

Gotta use the ******** ones.

Chris, did you run the wires from the crossover through the moisture barrier or just tuck them underneath it nicely? I can't tell for sure from this photo. Also, is there any concern with water getting to the crossover in that location or is it dry? Assuming dry but just wanted to double check. I am working on my install now. One more thing, did you leave the crossover setting at reference or change to one of the other two available settings? Thanks.

I went underneath with it and its completely dry there.
I left the selector in the middle.
Good luck!

no immediate plans to change out my BA speakers but will some day... Great write up. I wonder if those kicker speakers are better than the BA set up?

Thanks Chris. I got the passenger side installed but ran out of time last night. Will finish up driver side tonight. I mounted the crossover in the same place you did. I did test the speaker connections and the JLs on the passenger side were quieter than the stock driver side - especially 6.5" speaker. I'm concerned that I may have not connected properly. I used the light green and dark green wires that the old speaker were connected to. Didn't sound like much bass was coming out of the new speaker. Did you notice that you had to turn up the front fade or overall volume after your install? Any thoughts? Thanks!

Here's the skematic for the speakers. Check to make sure it wired right. Take the factory wires, L-Gr(+) & D-Gr(-) to the crossover, then from the crossover to the woofer and same with the tweeter, from the crossover to the tweet.

Hope that makes cense or helps

The sound difference might also be that the JL speakers are 4ohm and I think the Boston speakers are 2ohm.

Meister 09-04-2013 01:28 PM

I wired it correctly then. I'll do another comparison after I get the driver side in tonight hopefully. Impendence could be the difference. Thanks again!
