Ouch!.

mmarx82 05-19-2013 08:14 AM

That sucks, gonna get it replaced or filled in?

USMCSSGT-RET 05-19-2013 08:45 AM

Damn.....sorry to hear that man. Hope it doesn't cost much to fix. I wonder if they can fill it in....maybe Safelite can do it.

2013ZL1vert 05-19-2013 09:10 AM

I'm not sure which way to go. I've had the windshield replaced in my pickup but I have no experience with the epoxy repairs. Anyone had their Camaro windshields replaced? Repaired?

habunow1 05-19-2013 09:50 AM

We repair them all the time on our buses at work and it looks good but with some thing that large and where its going to be so easly seen you might want to talk to a repair peraon to see if it would be better to replace.

2013ZL1vert 05-19-2013 10:18 AM

I've made an appointment with Safelite in Pooler for Tuesday so we'll see which way we go. $99 repair or $718 replace.

USMCSSGT-RET 05-19-2013 11:23 AM

Ouch!!!! $718 is a lot!!!! Hope a repair will do.

USMCSSGT-RET 05-19-2013 11:38 AM

I'm posting some pics from yesterday's show in the media thread.

429 05-19-2013 04:01 PM

Had a similar hit coming back from vengeance in april. The repair turned out decent. Not perfect, but I'm satisfied for its cost ($0/no deductable) vs paying for new glass

mpiersd 05-19-2013 04:57 PM

Ouch. Sucks taking a hit to the car.
Had a good time and was nice meeting you all.

So my brother is trying to get more info on changing the design of the reverse light so brackets wouldn't be required and he is also still looking into having brackets made in case that route becomes too expensive. I'm trying to guage a little bit of interest from you local guys for him. You saw them on my car at the show last weekend. I can tell you they are 1700 lumen individually and 3400 lumens combined. I love how bright these things are myself.

Additionally we know the AAC ones are $200 and are not as bright as these so what would you be willing to pay for something like this? What is your preference on having separate mounting brackets to having it built all-in-one like the AAC reverse lights?

These are iPhone pictures, let me know guys.

USMCSSGT-RET 05-29-2013 04:42 PM

I'm down as of now....getting my RPI splitter painted now, will be installed this weekend!!!

2013ZL1vert 05-29-2013 05:05 PM

I may be able to make it. On another note, if you're looking for a ZL1, I was on the road to Albany today and the little Chevy dealer on Sylvester, Ga has 3 ZL1s. A black coupe, a grey coupe and a white convertible.

429 05-30-2013 10:42 AM

Whats the plan for sunday?

mpiersd 05-30-2013 02:50 PM

Beer?

mmarx82 05-31-2013 04:39 PM

Would anybody be interested in doing autocross at Hutchinson Island? They are having an event this Sunday but I figure it's kinda late for us to commit to that. But they have another June 30.

Here is the site: Buccaneer Region
I just talked to one of the guys, he said it's $40-45 for non-members, $10 less for members.

BTW, I'll be at the meet this Sunday.

2013ZL1vert 05-31-2013 08:23 PM

That's SCCA, right?

mpiersd 05-31-2013 09:38 PM

Don't think I'd run, but always enjoy a good SCCA event.

Yes it is...

Jer4251 06-01-2013 10:48 AM

Don't want to run mine just yet. But I do plan on coming out tomorrow. Haven't been in my car since the car show 2 weeks ago. Haven't even rinsed it off. I'll do that today.

What's everyone feel like doing? Cruise out to tybee or something similar?

mpiersd 06-01-2013 10:55 AM

I'm up for anything.

I'm pretty much up for whatever, I do plan to go out to Hutchinson Island to get a tad bit more information from the guys doing autocross this weekend whether or not we all decide to go out there.

USMCSSGT-RET 06-01-2013 12:08 PM

I'm down for whatever as well. Me and Mike are leaving Beaufort about 9:00, so we'll be out there early hanging out.

That blue thing is mine....I was bored yesterday and decided to change things up a bit.

Horriblecreation 06-01-2013 06:05 PM

Still 5 months left on this deployment... looks like the group has grown. Cant wait to get back and do some more work on my car.

2013ZL1vert 06-01-2013 08:33 PM

I'm gonna be there tomorrow......may be a little late so ya'll let me know what the plans are as far as lunch and afterward.
