Got a phone call from the paint shop today asking me to come over and inspect the latest progress in the removal of the tar from my car chassis.

I was told that this would be the farthest that the insurance was willing to go in regards to the tar removal.

In my opinion, the job will be complete when the tar splatter is removed from the mufflers, which should not be a problem according to the paint shop. (I can remove the tar from the last remaining areas myself later).

Otherwise, I am satisfied with the results.

Below are the latest pictures (please keep in mind that the tar splattered black plastic fender-well liners will be replaced with new ones):

Looks much better now! Was there any road rash paint repair required?

Just now read this Thread. Sorry to hear that you had to endure this with your "baby". It looks alot better now! Have you decided whether you're going to make the journey down to Baytown, TX for C5Fest in May??

Yes, the whole car has to be repainted.

The prepaint disassembly process will start this week!

I booked a room at the Comfort Suites the first day the Camaro5 Fest V hotels were announced.

As for which Camaro I will bring, that remains to be seen.
I am pretty confident that I will be bringing the 2010.
If that fails, I will bring the 1996 SS.

After the fest, I will head to Florida to see my dad (like I did on the last 2 fest trips).

De-trimming has begun!!
All that is left to be done is the removal of the roof antenna and all of the glass.

Looks like they are going to do a thorough, professional job! Can't wait to see the finished product!

Yes, they are doing what is necessary.

I hope they finish it soon as my 1996 SS getting a little long in the tooth for daily driving duty. It had a blinking "Service Engine Soon" light (DTC code P0300 - Random cylinder misfire condition) episode this morning and it is now at a Chevy dealer awaiting diagnosis.
My rental car is a red 2013 Camaro 1LT convertible....

How's the progress coming along?

I haven't been able to get to the shop this week.

I hope to check on the progress tomorrow.

As of today, the front, rear and quarter panel glass is out!
Body prep should start real soon.

By the way, the little black specks that are visible in the passenger side tail light pocket are bits of tar and gravel that I encountered in Oklahoma..

I'm sure it's going to look great when finished!
