Short Throw Hurst Shifter Not Available

I just received a call from my sales person who informed me that GM has sent a notice out advising that the Hurst short throw shifter will NOT be available on the 2010 Camaro and that it has been deleted from my order. I asked whether it had been deleted as a factory install and still available as a dealership install. The answer was NO short throw shifter period. Something to do with a recent change in safety regulations or something along those lines.

Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I'm going to wait for official confirmation on this.

This is seriously depressing though, if true.

It just seems to be one little thing after another and they are all starting to add up.

The Hurst shifter was a really big deal to me. Like I said - this is seriously depressing if true. Come on GM! Don't do this too!

And no, its not just having it that's the big deal, for all those "just go to the aftermarket" folks. Just like I was going to pay for the vinyl stripe package even though I was going to have them painted on - I really wanted it to show on my window sticker.

I don't see how a short throw can be a safety issue. They have been around for years. FYI shorter throws equals increased effort so it's not like your going accidentally shift. For the others there will be MUCH better shifters available aftermarket anyway.

Your dealer is an idiot.

This is SO not true the only way it could be more not true is if he added that every order included a pink elephant with wings.

There is no safety regulations regarding shift effort.

This was covered last week. The dealer is an IDIOT!

Winged pink elephants??? Sweet!!! I always wanted one!

This is contrary to the RPO KAE code seen on the new price sheet dated 2/18/09. Don't be disappointed or condemning GM. Please withhold any negativity towards GM at this point. Let's hear it from them first. It just doesn't make sense for them to do that. It's just more mis-information from a dealer who thinks he knows anything about camaro.
