CT6’s 4.2 TT needs a home.
So now that the CT6 is going down. The “Blackwing” 4.2TT is without a home.
What’s the odds it could make it into the Camaro in some trim level? I know it’s 550HP 627 Tq. Like 600tq at 2000rpm. But there is a 5.5 version of it but my guess is C8 Corvette. |
No reason it's not going into the Escalade and CT5.. So, it most likely has a few homes coming. Not sure something like this would go into a Camaro.

Giving the fact that it is a Cadillac exclusive engine, I don't think we'll see it on another platform other then Cadillac.

Hmm. I wonder if that’ll ever get offered as a crate engine. That sounds fantastic, to me. Either that, or wait for a CT6 V-Sport to get rear ended.
|
I just can't fathom that GM spent millions of dollars to develop this really amazing engine to let it all go. They'll never recoup their investment into it if they don't sell it in something else. Unless they just build the heck out of CT6 V-Sports until March.

Spent billions on engine that more costly n minimal benefits when they had LS family of engines.. for what reason, do any cadillac buyers really care what's under the hood.. nope.
Often times wonder how so many what seems like dumb decisions get made in a vacuum. For what.. a line on marketing brochure.. would prob sound better "same heart that power our corvette now under hood on your new cadillac. |
I’d rather they develop an engine off the 3.6 V6. The 4.2 has a small bore and long stroke to keep the block more compact.

Blazer is highly unlikely - that's a transverse mounted unibody SUV, an entire powertrain retool won't happen there. |
I've often wondered why they didn't share a platform/engine between the CTS-V and the SS sedan. Make them both AWD and that'd be a nice platform a little smaller but similar in performance to the M5 with a bump in boost.

ChefBorOzzy and 68vette are on the right page. CT4.... CT5.... Escalade.... XT7.... plenty of hoods waiting for hardware. |
CT6 is also built in China. That is where the CT6 Hybrid was built. That plant is not stopping production. Maybe they deal on Lordstown to enable low volume vehicles like CT6 and Envision to be imported.

I didn't know they called it the "blackwing". I actually worked on the assembly tooling for this "LTA" cylinder head assembly, so it would be especially sad to see this get scrapped already.
