'12 ZL1 prices in Spring '14?
OK, I know this is an odd question seeing ZL1's are just starting to get into the hands of their "first" owners. I cannot afford a $60K vehicle so my question is what do you think the market price for a 2012 ZL1 (lets say $60K MSRP) will be in about 2 years (Spring 2014)? I'd be more inclined at around $40K but not sure if they will be at that level in 2 years or not due to depreciation and the like. Please, not trying to bum anyone out who is just getting theirs new now. Just thinking about the future. Will these hold their value or like other vehicles will the value of a 2 y.o. vehicle be in the 65-75% range? Thanks and congrats to any soon to be ZL1 owners. :)
Oh and sorry, I JUST saw a very similar thread in the forum. I'll check in there but any other thoughts on value would be appreciated. |
If the 2015 Camaro looks anything like what GM has shown so far,,, the current ZL1 prices should sky rocket! Also once it shows it can handle the Ford's I think it's price is going to hold pretty steady.

CAFE standards in the next few years are guaranteed to raise prices on 2012 ZL1s. A LOT of folks aren't going to take kindly to turbocharged V6s in smaller packages.

Thanks to those who have responded. I'm guessing with the 6th gen Camaro due out as a 2016 MY in 2015 sometime, that we will have seen what it is going to look like (at least in camo) by early 2014. What I'm thinking is that the low number produced for the 2012 MY is going to hold prices up. The thought of picking up a 580 HP automatic (yes I know I'm an automatic guy) in good shape for $40K or a hair above with some warranty remaining on it sounds VERY tempting. If prices stay in the mid 40's I'm probably out as well. I'm keeping my options open. Anyone know production targets for the 2012 model year ZL1? Thanks again.

That little red concept is NOT indicative of the next generation Camaro.
In fact, I seem to recall Tom Peters, Camaro's chief designer, being asked that....he very politely and eloquently said something to the effect of "Hell no." ;) As far as ZL1 prices......There are so few, and its so highly regarded, I'm not sure it will drop very much at all in value. I imagine it may even do better than Camaro SS. And that opinion's not because I bought one - I have no intention of trading this, so I don't really care about resale value! I hope you find a way into one though, Orbit Orange. It is one helluva car! |

Prices will obviously drop. '13 models will have in dash and whatever else. The more ZL1's and the hype does down prices will probably drop to the $40-45k price tag for a used one. ZL1 is cool but once news about the Z/28 drops it'll get less attention.
