Did you have to do anything after cutting the fender to prevent it from rusting where you could see bare metal? Just curious how that works or if it's needed.. Thanks.

Also, anyone got any pics of a black Camaro with them? Do they stand out as much as they do on the other colors? I tried searching but couldn't find these on black, found other types just looking for this specific type though.

Also, I see in both sets of pics that the person is working on a black panel. Is it safe to assume those are practice pieces and that I dont need to remove my fender?

dang. As always Lupe, your Camaro is my favorite of all time! I wish I had the money and skill to make mine like yours!

hello, the black what a test run just to make sure i was going to like the look of the vent on the fender, it was also good practice:). When i did them on the car, i did not have to remove the fender. set the template, trace, cut, prime, install :)

Here are a couple pics, can't think of anything you haven't covered really, except I don't have body and limited mech. experience.First time I've cut on a car,so of course I was nervous, but once I started there was no turning back.No precise measuring, lined up template to mid body line and fender/door...you know the rest.I installed the 3dcarbon bodykit as well.

Does anyone have pictures of these on a car with no GFX?

KMAN114 08-24-2012 06:24 PM

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but i'm also curious if anyone has any pictures of the vents on cars with no GFX

Aubrey64 09-07-2012 12:25 AM

Is double sided tape all that keeps these vents attached to the fender? How does that hold up? I am really wanting to do this, but am skeptical about the cutting...My dad would KILL me if I screwed up my car

Just a noob asking here, but you wouldnt want to cover the whole area with something while you cut/grind? Seems like sparks could melt or embed in the clear coat.

that is a good question, he only covered about 1 inch around. the first one i cut i used a die grinder and it created tons of sparks, so i taped about 3 inches around. the other side i used a air reciprocating saw and made very little sparks:)

I just installed mine (DIY). They were a Christmas present from my wife.

Took me a total of 3 hours. I did everything as laid out in previous posts except I tired using my Dremel with a metal cutting bit. It sucked so I rented a die grinder for $15.00.

Just found a set painted black new off eBay for $130 shipped! Can't wait to get them in and installed. I plan on painting the mesh blue to match my stripes. :D :happyanim: FINALLY! Been wanting these since I got my car a year ago! I also might put some lighting in there if I can find somewhere to run the wire. The ideas are flowing! :)

I will definitely be following this guide, thanks for putting it together Lupe.

Put lights behind mine... Just a little subtle glow for shows... There are spots to run the wiring so that you can't see them You will find a spot when you have the inner fender out.

Thank you for sharing that about the Dremel! That's what I was going to try.

Lupe were they copycat or someone selling a legit version? Surprised that someone wouldn't have put them in the marketplace here. Great price!!

Here are the ones I did back in Nov. Hardest part was getting the courage to cut into my car lol (a beer and a few cigarettes). After the first cut it was very easy. Also added blue lights behind mine. I used my dremel with the dremel ez lock cutting wheels. It took about 10 wheels to do the whole car.

This was just someone that bought them and didn't use them I guess. It was labeled as Mustang/Camaro 3d Carbon Vented fenders. I asked if they were the mustang black or Camaro black and they said mustang. To my surprise the paint codes were the same after doing some research. :happyanim: Just search eBay often. You can catch some awesome deals sometimes.

Thanks, after I did the fender vents I took the stripes off of the side because IMO it looked way too cluttered. But After I took them off it felt way too plain lol so then I ordered new camaro lettering and re-installed them above the vents and that seems to complete it for me. I do have more pics of the car with the side stripes if you want to see them.

looks real good lupe. I'll be ordering me some real soon.

Anyone know what the cost to install these would be? I have a few people in my area with custom audio/body shops who do quality work, but I can not grow the balls to cut my new car.
