TapShift Update - 60% faster?
Does anyone know if the TapShift software update for the 2012 Camaros will work with the 2010's and 2011's?
DETROIT – When the new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 arrives this spring, performance car enthusiasts will experience the hands-on driving satisfaction of a “stick” with the ease of an automatic transmission due to General Motors’ newly improved TapShift technology. Since its introduction several years ago, TapShift has allowed drivers to control up- and down-shifts with paddle shifters. For 2012, GM powertrain engineers implemented a patent-pending software algorithm that improves tap response time by up to 60 percent compared to the previous system. No hardware changes were required for the upgrade. http://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/n.../0222_tapshift |

I wonder even if not, if it is something Vince could learn from and duplicate for us
|
^^^^This.
I think Oolie's idea might be the best bet. GM stated it was an algorithm they used so if a similar algorithm was developed, it might be possible to duplicate the result |

I tested a update that Vince did last month to make the TapShift hit as hard as the Sport mode.
While it did look like the taps shifted a little faster then OEM. It never had that hard hit like sport mode has. He was thinking it might be because sport mode knows when its going to Shift and has extra time to get ready for it. But maybe he will look into more and find a way. It would be very nice. |

If we can get this it would be amazing I'm sure and a lot of fun. |
Doesn't Vince already do this for us?
