throttle body porting

a week ago a friend had his TB ported by a professional. he has had a check engine light on and off since... now he says its sputtering and popping.. the strange thing is that others had their cars done also without any issues.that same day. the guy did a total of eight and the one with the problems was first. his is a 6cld but so were 5 others... any thoughts? also now that i remember it he installed a cold air intake from specter.... the box didnt differentiate that it was for a 6 or 8 cld car..

It sounds as though it will need a tune.

You shouldn't need a tune if all u have is a ported TB and a cold air intake! Maybe his TB electronics went bad and that is what is causing that. He should also check if his TB was installed correctly! I have a lot more mods than just a ported TB and a CAI and still don't know what a check engine light looks like as it has never popped up on my dash as of yet. knock on wood!!!

whats the code? Autozone or Advanced Auto should be able to read the code and tell him what it is. Id start there.

vacuum leak or he ruined the TB most likely, read the code.

Might wanna check if his MAF sensor is weak.

And this is why you stick to a VMax ported TB. They are CNC ported. Humans can make a mistake....computer rarely does.

Vacuum leak or weak maf sensor or over ported is the first thing I would expect.
I put one on a 2006 gto for a guy once and I pinched the o ring and it drove fine overall but had a couple of issues here and there similar to what you posted.

Good advice right there. Vry few "professional porters" can get it right by hand porting.

Bo knows. He gets it right.
