April Production #'s for Camaro

OSHAWA #1 CHEVROLET CAMARO

Just got that from the GM Production and sales websites.

Ron

20 Camaro 10 05-01-2009 02:46 PM

looks like they already built 6,200 dealer and rental cars - i wonder if they are going to produce all the sold orders now??

mmarcum 05-01-2009 02:48 PM

Does that mean that out of 7,814 made, only 614 were for preorders?

VenomZ302 05-01-2009 02:49 PM

Do we know how many pre-order cars need to get produced, total, from this point on? I'd be seriously interested in that number.

yes. quite sad and annoying isnt it? they better be making sold-order cars now:paddle::paddle::mad0260::mad0260::paddle:

TJ91 05-01-2009 02:53 PM

Wow if thats the case then preorders were robbed, i hope they solely do the pre orders now.
Kinda makes sense. Now they can just focus on the sold orders!

20 Camaro 10 05-01-2009 02:54 PM

i would be happy if my car would move from 1100.

Speed 1 05-01-2009 03:00 PM

Mac,

Thanks for the info!!!

I'll be sure to stop in some time.....

i know what ya mean....:mad0260:, i was #9 at my dealer, and mine went to 3000 on 4/20, he said he has only 2 others that have been pulled.... hopefully it won't be long

BL202 05-01-2009 03:03 PM

Knowing the way GM has been doing things, instead of doing the pre orders they will now start just doing all of the dealer lot cars....Just a prediction :paddle:

dkb 05-01-2009 03:08 PM

the wait is getting tough ...

If this is true it explains quite a bit I guess ...

CWI 05-01-2009 03:08 PM

I am venturing to guess they will continue to produce more sellable cars for dealers than they build preorders. They know we want our cars, they want more available to the masses.

Although us enthusiasts are a factor, fact remains we are a small factor in the survival of GM. They need to sell a lot more than 15,000 pre orders. It just makes sense for them to build more for the lots.

TJ91 05-01-2009 03:10 PM

its a sad thing but i think you guys are right, would be nice for them to solely build Preorders until theyre done

JJ2010 05-01-2009 03:15 PM

GM this is a sad situation....

You expect your most loyal customers to stick with you when you do them like this..

I can buy a Camaro off of lots everywhere and can't get mine...

The guys that did get built the first week are in QC still...

Wingnut 05-01-2009 03:16 PM

Man, you guys sure rush to kill any good news. The daily production orders are fantastic. They ARE producing the pre-orders along with the dealer show-room cars. Many pre-orders are getting their cars, our production codes are moving along and all the pre-order cars will be built by ealry this summer. In order to keep the production line moving when contraints come up, they're building other cars.......that's reasonable and expected. Calm down, you've waited this long and we are all weeks away from getting this awesome car.

Wingnut 05-01-2009 03:20 PM

You can buy cars off lots because of idiots who pre-ordered and have cancelled because they could wait and there are those unfortunate few that have lost jobs since their pre-order. People cancelling orders doesn't speed up the process for the rest of us, it simply gives the dealer a car to sell. Not GM's fault.

2010SSRS 05-01-2009 03:20 PM

if that's true, and only 600 and change were from the pre-order pile............i'm speechless!

almost makes you wanna cancel your order............

Did you NOT see all the SS's that have been delivered??? Dealer cars are NOT SS's. My dealer has teh 1st allocation showing up this weekend, the 2nd next week and mine is on the line now. You all knew the dealers were getting a car to show off. Relax.....

Wrong, many of us have been at 3000 or 3300 for weeks. Our TPW has passed weeks ago.

Early summer? I doubt that , pre order allotments were through third quarter. If those orders are spread out, I suspect that means there will still be preorders not built yet in September. Many of those orders will be canceled when buyers are finally able to buy the car they want off the lot rather than wait on their order.

HA! a handful from 8k members...certainly 50% of us have cars on order.

I'm 'optimistic' that next week we'll see the floodgates open as GM is going for a 'big bang'...

Wingnut 05-01-2009 03:37 PM

SO.........since we were all told that the pre-order cars would be made between now and the 4th quarter, why the rage 6 weeks after production started?
Cars that show up on lots that you can buy before you get the pre-order are simply cancelled orders.
If you read any other threads, totally believing production codes would be naive.

Wingnut 05-01-2009 03:40 PM

I'm not talking about actual member deliveries......it's the pics of cars being shipped. The percentage of people on this site makes up such a small number of the people that pre-ordered. I've already seen a sold Camaro on the streets of San Antonio and it's nowhere on any of the info in this site.

I would think 50% would be kind of high. Probably a lot more enthusiasts on the site like myself than people who have actually pre-ordered.

I'm holding out for a vert in 18 months or so, hopefully.

dkb 05-01-2009 03:52 PM

@3300 for a week now ...

not to fixate on this (oh hell why not fixate) but I was NOT told that my car I ordered in January might not get delivered for 9 months (fourth quarter). I was told April. Then I was told May. Then I was told "certainly by early summer." Then I read on this forum about the fourth quarter stuff.

In my dealer's defense ... had he told me i could pre-order but would actually be behind dealer cars I would definitely have said why bother and waited to see them show up on lots where I could sit in one ... drive one etc.

All that having been said ... I'm still excited and glad I ordered.

I really, really want the car by Memorial Day ... been at 3300 for a week ....

Wingnut 05-01-2009 04:12 PM

DKB.....I here ya. I order in December and I have been at 3300 for right at two weeks. That doesn't mean the actual code isn't higher, just that GM isn't real fast about updating. My TPW was this week, but I haven't heard a word. Doesn't mean it's not built and waiting to go, but who knows. I hope to take delivery just before Memorial day too. There coming, we only have a matter of days and weeks to wait now....not YEARS!!!!

I don't mind the idea of GM making and shipping cars for the show-room floor but IMO the majority of the cars rolling off the lines should be for the guys/gals who ordered back in 2008. Screw AVIS...I think they should've been the last to get anything.

PS: I doubt all of the pre-orders were done by "GM Fans". If you have a big Toyota fan who finally switched sides and bought a Chevy b/c this car completely kicks ass and is left waiting and waiting after they pre-orderd back in Oct or Nov. and they all of a sudden see a camaro at AVIS and wonder why they still haven't gotten theirs yet... that might leave a bad taste in their mouth and this might be the last GM car they buy... Just a thought...

Also...the best way to get the publics attention is to get the car in the hands of the guys/gals who love this car and have been waiting...not putting it on a lot to be sold...get it in the hands of the ones who are going to drive it 24/7 b/c they can't get enough of it... thats free advertising right there...

I don't think the 614 sold cars means that only 614 preorders were built.

I think it means that only 614 preorders were delivered and picked up.

No cars are "sold" until the invoice and car is delivered.

chevygirl1 05-01-2009 04:59 PM

:chevy: The 614 sold is how many Camaro's were reported delivered in April, not how many "Sold" orders were built.

Just got that from the GM Production and sales websites.

Ron

So this means that there are over 7,000 Camaros that are either sitting in big parking lots, or currently in transit, huh?

camaroincarolina 05-01-2009 05:02 PM

I agree the wait is getting hard....this is like waiting on a baby to be born.......I ordered my 1SS on October 16, 2008........It was pulled for production 3 weeks ago and it is still in that status according to my dealer today. The dealer is having their big Camaro unveiling on May 6, but will only have the one car that has come in this past Monday. Luckily, the buyer of this car is willing to bring it back for everyone to see. I have not seen any on the road here in SC........

Gameover 05-01-2009 05:02 PM

Alright, lots of camaro's already produced. That's good news!

Rally Sport 05-01-2009 05:09 PM

GM has no reason to delay our orders, think about it, with the economy they need all the income they can get, i have confidence that they will be doing pre orders as fast as possible until they are finished because they have buyers lined up... they have no reason to be playing games when they have customers lined up to pay for cars....

The 614 number is how many have been sold to a customer. (6000 status) (burning gas)

:word:

there should be a large number of cars in transit at any point in time see if this math makes sense to anyone

about 200 cars produced a day lets say

and my dealer said it can take a week to 10 days for the car to arrive after being built

so 500 to 1000 cars could potentially be customer orders that have not been delivered yet....

Timberline 05-01-2009 05:15 PM

Anyone given any thought of what would happen if GM files bankruptsy like Chrysler just did?

ckcamaro 05-01-2009 05:16 PM
