Schumacher SE-1-12S Automatic Battery Charger / Maintainer Installation

8 Attachment(s)
Here is how I installed my charger to keep my battery charged this winter.

Remove trunk floor mat.
Remove hard cover.
Remove the tire inflator / sealer unit.
Remove two bolts that secure the upper battery hold down.
Mark and drill a 5/16 hole in the bracket for the charger.
Install the bracket on the charger as shown.
I changed the large round lugs on the charger to smaller u shaped lugs.
One of the hold down bolts must be shortened so it doesn't contact the charger when it in reinstalled.
Position charger in place and reinstall the battery hold down.
Connect the charger leads to the battery at the cable bolt or the clamp bolt.
Remove the floor pan plug and pull extension cord through.
Plug in charger.
Stuff a dryer sheet in the hole where the extension cord enters the trunk.
Reinstall the tire inflator / sealer unit.
Reinstall the hard cover.
Reinstall the floor mat.

Great, thanks for your help, excellent set of pictures for the DIY.

I did this as well, but instead of drilling a 5/16 hole in the bracket for the charger, I simply attached the charger to the bracket, loosened the clamp (bottom left of batter) that holds down the battery and slid the bottom of the "L" shaped bracket underneath the battery, tightend the battery clamp and the charger is held in place by the weight of the battery.
This is basically the same thing you did, but didn't have to drill hole and / or cut the bolt.

Good idea. Did you get enough crush on the charger bracket to get the top plate to lay flat?
