FINALLY! After nearly 2 months, the people have spoken and GM has listened!

Bulletin has been released for the fix of this problem!

Doc ID# 2668096. (or) Tech Bulletin #PIC5472

I just got off the phone w Suburban Chevy who found the bulletin released late last week. Basically, it calls for the moving of the suspect bracket and repair/replacement of the top!

Let's get these cars in! Finally!

UPDATE 6/18/11: GM put a new top on but didn't fix the problem so I took matters into my own hands and fixed it myself. Here is the thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153498.

Just like the title says, my top is down 99% of the time and the few times I have put it up I have noticed that there are some rub marks on my top. The really bad ones are about 8" back from the front of the top right above the side windows. There is also a long rub mark on the first rib of the under skeleton. I am guessing the long one is from the boot cover moving around when installed.

So anyone else notice this?

My friend had mentioned that the top should be up when parked, as I took these pics and read the "What position is best for the vert top at night?" thread, I decided to just put the top up everytime I put her up for the night. That really sucks, cause it is so easy to just drive in the garage and be done, Oh well.

My husband and I noticed that I have 2 small marks on my top each one about 8 to 10 in. back from front windshield just above the driver and passenger door windows too. I am taking mine in because when the top is up and I close the driver's door it sounds like the window is rattling, so I am gonna have them look at the spots too. I'll let ya know what they say.

Can the fabric be brushed out with a stiff brush to eliminate the marks?

Looking at the last photo, there sure seems to be a lot of loose, loopy threads in the top, too.

Mine looks like it could become a hole.

Like rainey85 said it looks like it might eventually wear a hole in those two spots.

That is just dirt. There isn't any loose threads anywhere that I have noticed.

We've got 3-year warranty, right? Seems that covered repairs would be in order if any of the above issues became a hole. Perhaps GM can recommend best practices to avoid the wear (and warranty issues!).

Folk that's the price we pay for having the first of anything. It is the first verts for the new Camaro on the market. You do have an excellent warranty to cover these things.....I hope!!!!! I think it's going to be difficult to prevent all of the rubbing with a soft top though...good luck!

Ironic... I too just saw the thead about keeping the top up in storage so I took it to.work today and put it up. Sure.enough, I have the EXACT same marks which I never noticed before today. Definitely looks.like.it.could become a hole. Hopefully sooner than later- let GM repair it, not.me!

I have some wrinkle marks on the sides.

Bodih 04-21-2011 09:07 PM

I noticed these marks shortly after I got the car, and started leaving the top up whenever I'm not driving it. I like to keep the fabric stretched and aired out anyway. My last convertible had a similar issue. Its not really rubbing on anything, just pressing against one of the braces when its compressed in the well. I'll still be keeping an eye on the top for other issues as well.

OrangeVert 04-21-2011 09:48 PM

Does anyone think that putting a piece of foam between the folds (at the pressure points) when putting the top down would help?

Bodih 04-21-2011 10:06 PM

The other day, someone mentioned laying a towel over the top before putting the tonneau cover on. Probably wouldn't help with the side marks, but might help with the rib marks the OP talked about. I haven't noticed the rib marks on mine, but then I don't often put my tonneau cover on.

I've got the marks too. The right side actually looks like it will make a hole over time. The driver side just looks like it is pressing against a brace.
