BatmannTexas' 2012 SS build [9/8/14]

Hello all, and welcome to my journey! I will try to keep things short and simple when possible, long and detailed when needed, and hopefully not too boring...

So, July 8th, 2012, I found myself at my local stealership, looking at a new Camaro SS. After looking some over, I decided that I needed to have one. Several hours later, my 2007 Avalanche is gone, and in the driveway sits a 2012 Rally Yellow Camaro 2SS/RS, M6.

Out with the "Old"...

The 2007 Avalanche with a few mods. Dynatech long tube stainless headers, Banks exhaust, and a little Whipple supercharger, to help motivate it.

In with the "New"...

Here is my car a few days after I took delivery, outside the dealership, getting ready to receive its first modification.

First of many mods...

The first modification is purely cosmetic. I just wasn't a fan of the tiny factory spoiler, so, off it came, and in place went a factory high wing, painted to match.

2nd Modification was in the aural department...

I thought the car was way to quiet for a muscle car, so I ordered a set of long tube headers. I had already performed the "cheap" muffler delete, but still wasn't happy with the lack of sound volume, and at this point all I had ordered was the long tubes, so I broke out the sawzall and cut the factory catalytic converters up. The headers came with some short extensions, so I spliced one of the factory cats into each side, then mated it all to the factory catback piping. Here are a couple of pics and a video clip.

3rd Modification...

Continuing on in the search for the right exhaust note, I replaced the factory "H-pipe" with a Magnaflow "X-pipe", and added 4" Magnaflow stainless tips to the exhaust.

4th Modification....

Another cosmetic upgrade...I swapped out the RS tail lights for the Technostalgia LED tail lights. I gotta say, these things are awesome! Super bright, and I love the directional turn signal function, plus the show-mode is pretty cool, too.

5th Modification...

This is probably the biggest mod...

on February 1st, I ordered a Whipple supercharger kit, LS9 blower cam, requisite cam gear, tensioner, bolts, gaskets, etc. I also ordered Mike Norris' Gen 2 catch can. Since I was in the buying mood, I ordered a boost and wide-band AFR gauge from ProSport, and the A-pillar pod from AutoMeter. I also ordered a complete 3" stainless exhaust system to replace the factory pipes. :happyanim:

All of the above, minus the blower and catch can, are sitting either on my workbench or the floor, awaiting install. The blower delivery has been delayed due to parts availability as well as the catch can.

Hopefully, will get a chance to take some time off work in March to have a thrash session installing parts and getting the car a custom tune. More to follow....

I forgot this mod...I painted the engine cover so it wouldn't look so dull underhood. It won't matter once the Whipple is in place

Looks good man. Let me know if you need help with the install. I did my maggie over a weekend by myself and it really wasn't difficult at all.

Thanks for the offer, I will keep definitely keep you in mind. I think the hardest part will be pulling off the front fascia assy, and actually setting the SC/Intake/IC assembly in place. The rest should be rather easy. I figure it will also be a PITA to route the wires for the A-pillar gauges. What do you think?

A pillar wire for you Gauges is simple, here is a photo of the hole in the firewall next to the brake reservoir, then run it up the pillar when it's removed, also route the wire inside the fuse box in the drivers side dash cover!
