When you buy a car you take into account maintenance costs. If i do buy one you can bet i will drive it like i have every car i have ever owned. Track and street.

Hell, if i do then my SS will be a straight up drag car and nothing more. WIN.

You can find easily complete new rotors/hats at $1,298 each, front pads at $535 and rears for $398 and someone posted yesterday on this forum they have seen rotors as little as $950 each. And the Brembo Carbon/Ceramic discs are projected to last almost indefinetly, at least 100,000 under normal use. This is all based on ZR1 data.

The carbon rotors also last a long long long time.

Brembo has their act together on these things.

My question about the brakes would be, do they need to be heat cycled to work well. I read that some racing type pads need to have heat before they work right.

This wouldn't be good for a DD if that's the case as your stopping distance may not be that good.

I would assume they would be the same pads that are on the carbon Vette brakes. Plenty of OEM's are running carbon brakes that were R&D'd on the Ring, I don't see why there would be an issue, never been one before.
