Twin Turbo GM V8

They need to drop this into the Z28.

Will Camaro See This Motor?

For years, the pony was never to outrun the horse, i.e. the Camaro couldn’t trump the Corvette. That was all thrown out the window a few years ago and now the Camaro gets everything it’s big brother gets. A Camaro with a hopped up version of this motor would be the final nail in the coffin for Chevy pony car critics. Can you imagine their faces? How about the import crowd? What malarkey excuses would they come up with if the pushrod motor complaint was banished…forever?

If I recall I read that Cadillac will not allow any other GM nameplates use this engine.

Yep, that is what the Cadillac president said.
But it is "GM", so time will tell.

I highly doubt this will make to to the Camaro though.

This would be more geared toward the upcoming Mid Engine Corvette.
Or at least an engine very similar to this.

Talk of this is all over the Corvette forum in the C8 section.

Yep it’s GM’s IMHO it deserves to to be in the Corvette, and Camaro.

Twin Turbo v8 z28? Possible even though the ZL1 LE is already a strong competitor. Who knows, maybe they'll secretly announce Z28 to counter GT500/R? :gossip:

Looks like a pain to work on and modify. It also appears it's going to have the same problem most small displacement Turbo I4s have now: Running out steam up to due to packaging small turbochargers in that are meant for mid-range torque, not high RPM power.

Time will tell.

I'm not sure I would want another direct injection only motor with the current AFM tech.

any forced inducted engine will not go into a z28. period. however, I would expect something like this to be in the Camaro as a 2020 model.

de Nysschen was right when he said this motor wouldn't make it outside of Cadillac . . . but you can bet variants of this motor absolutely will.

Different turbos are easy enough to adapt, and there is room for 2 more fuel pumps.

Mr. Wyndham 06-27-2018 09:34 AM

People seem to forget the entire reason we don't have a "Z/28" right now is because there is no naturally-aspirated engine the Camaro team felt appropriate for it......

Turbos ain't natural aspiration....

Why would they bother with the 4.2TT when it’s as heavy as the LT4 but makes less power?

Mountain 06-27-2018 10:07 AM

Willing to bet a version of this is in the C8.

And, as Mr. Wyndham said, the Z/28 is a N.A. car... plain and simple; Chevy is not going to put something like this in a Z/28.

Just what I was thinking. Why bother with multi cam multi turbo when the LT4 makes more HP?
