Courtesy of member CamaroScotty, it’s been confirmed that backup sensors will be available on the 2010 Camaro beginning on August 31, 2009. The sensors will be included on the 2SS, 2LT and 1LT w/ SRJ package. These sensors should be helpful for those who have rear-viewing difficulty due to the Camaro’s rear width and strong shoulder lines. The sensor’s price has been quoted at $295 as a separate option. |

I just checked my estimating system and saw 2 sensors on the rear bumper both for about $55 each.

Oh God. Thinking about the upcoming 'My backup sensor bumper is sooooo ugly" threads is giving me heartburn already.

I'm guessing we wont have any pictures of this for weeks...

Well, I guess this means I can let my wife drive the car when I get it.
Funny story, she actually backed into our mailbox one day in her 01 camaro, (way to look behind you) then instead of asking me to fix it, she moved the car so that she could "re-adjust" the mailbox with the front bumper. I hope this backup sensor will detect mailboxes. |
It's called safety, people! The first time that you are warned by the sensors that your 4 year old is behind your car, you won't care that you have a couple of dots on your bumper. It IS difficult to see directly behind you in this car. If one accident is prevented because of this then I applaud GM. Don't seatbelts make an interior look ugly?
