Only sound waves enter the J pipes, which is why the tone and flow are not affected. The J pipes are actually only warm to the touch after a long, hard drive. They truly work wonders, and ours are tunable if you decide to mod the engine later on.

Play it again, Steve. Or was that "Sam"?

Anyone use the Solo J pipes on the Flowmaster AMT? Would love to get rid of that drone but the muffler is larger than most other systems. I haven't taken a good look under there to see if they can be positioned well though.

I have the Borla Atak on my Camaro with ARH headers and the drone is kinda getting on my nerves now. Does anybody know of any company or somewhere where I can get the J-Pipes themselves, and I could get them welded on?

J pipe companies should see this and change the design... the above examples look like ass

Solo Co did it right from the start. Very clean simple inexpensive muffler delete J-pipe design along with a great deep sound.

The j pipes do look off looking under the car but u can't see them after the car is lowered back to the ground.

I believe this is for a BMW. From another forum:

"Another good idea is using what is called a Side Branch Resonator. It's basically a capped off resonator welded to a j-pipe:

Some Euro-minded might adapt these to a Camaro.

My solo axel back comes in Monday. I probably won't get a chance to install it until Friday. I looked at a lot of exhausts and spoke to several venders on this site who were very helpful. In the end, I opted for this system, based on cost and my needs. I was very close to getting the Magnaflow comp. The value and customer service I received from Jordon at JDP was great. He answered all my dumb questions regarding the Magnaflow.

Considering what I wanted out of an exhaust and not having a big desire to do headers or high flow cats in the future, I felt this was the most bang for my buck and the drone thing would have been in an issue for me as I have an L99.

:needpics:

Photos of installation and connection point sure would be helpful

I assume that if you got with the full cat back Solo Mach XL w/J pipes system...drone should still not be an issue on the L99?

rm2092 01-14-2012 09:38 AM

I have the L99 so with the Axle Back Solo J there will be no lose of low end power and also what about the AFM sound ? Vary close to buying one now.

I have an L99 SS and my Solo axle back J-pipes are drone free at any RPM. Also, I was at a car show last summer parked next to a new SS with the Borla exhaust. My Solos had a much deeper more aggressive sound IMO.
You will be a happy camper !........

Cool thanks now I wonder how much my local muffler shop will charge me for the install ?
