Pics, and initial impressions

Thank you all! As promised, here are the pics. I didn't get to bring her home tonight as the stripes did NOT make it to the dealership today, but the Sales Mgr. told me they ship from a warehouse in Dayton, so they'd better be there tomorrow. Also, they had not prepped the car yet - I was under the impression that that it would be done by the time I got off work and got over there, but no. (Somehow they managed to put on the license plate frame and a sticker - which the sales manager assures me will peel off easily.) But even dirty, the car looks fabulous!

The salesman handed us the keys right away, then left to check on another customer. No problem! We started to realize we weren't going to take it home when we saw how dirty it was. But no problem, I got in and did good things like adjust the seat and try out the stereo. My husband did naughty things like :burnrubber: in the parking lot!

OK, here are my initial impressions:

Subdued yet nice rumble. Someone in another recent post said it purrs like a kitten. Purrs is a good word, but more like a mountain lion, especially when you whomp on the gas. :D

Stereo is a definite improvement over my Firebird's Monsoon system that's missing one blown woofer. Actually I think it sounds better than the Monsoon before the speaker blew. Hopefully these BA speakers can handle more than those Monsoons! Oh, and forget that "Music for the Maiden Voyage" stuff. This car has a mind of its own. I wanted to crank up some KMFDM. The car, however, wanted to play "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath. :iono: No problem, I like Sabbath, or it wouldn't've been on my flash drive. And I think my husband is in

The seats are comfy, no problems there. Visibility, no problem once I cranked up the seat. The back is small, but not troublesome, especially with the side mirrors angled out to eliminate the blind spots.

The clutch is smooth and easy to work - surprisingly so. Shifter seemed stiff to me, but my husband didn't think so. It may be because my last stick shift was a little Saturn SL2. This one felt more like the NASCAR I drove in Richard Petty's school. I think I will get used to it easily. :D If you mess up/rev too much getting used to the clutch, here the car has a mind of its own too. One time I revved too high, and I swear it was like the car pushed the clutch for me! (Ya I know, it has a rev limiter. I'm sticking with the mind-of-its-own theory. :) )

Kids found the back seats very comfortable too. My daughter says its WAAAAAYYY better than the Firebird's - and she's never minded those. She did notice the lack of headroom in the Camaro's back seats - they are buckets, but you don't sink down in them as far as in 4th gens. She's 5'1" and so is her friend that went with us, so the headroom isn't really an issue. The kids really liked the stereo too. At first it was cumbersome getting in and out of the back seat, until they discovered the seat release in the middle of the backs of the seats.

I don't think any of us wanted to get out. Can't wait until tomorrow night!!!

We took a little video too. Will post that once I get it up on YouTube.

Why not just take it home and let them put the stripes on it later?

BTW, 2LT RS 6M is what I am presently on order for also.

Sunroof vs. polished wheels tho. Also doing the spare tire thing.

Looks like it definitely burns rubber better than the V6 auto (rented one of those and could get maybe 5' of scratch, and nothing going into the next higher gear - I guess it starts in second anyhow).

I was reading Hot Rod and they talked about getting second gear scratch in a V6 M6. Not so much in the auto.

After reading that, I am starting to solidify around the V6 M6 (still pondeirng SS tho). In either case, it will be a manual. Also thinking auto for kids car down the road, but they can learn to dance with a manual. :D
