Slight problem when PlastiDiping Rims.

I recently put new tires on my camaro. I opted for 275s all around instead of the staggered 245-275 OEM tires. When I previously PD'd my rims, I put flash cards in between the gap of the rim and tire(to eliminate overspray), and it worked out great.
But now I have less of a gap between the front rims and the tires. I guess since the front rims are half an inch smaller? (Not sure). Anyway.. I could never get the plastidip to go behind the lip of the rim. It just kind of stopped at the edges, and it peeled off pretty easily.

Any suggestions?

I managed to get the blue painters tape to stick to the tire once and was able to get back behind it. It's a PITA to get it to stick and be able to manipulate the wheel while painting without the tape wanting to peel off. Other than that it may be easier/ better to powdercoat them. Way more expensive but more of a long term solution.

I layed down double stick tape on the edge of the tire and laid down some painters plastic over the entire wheel. Once I got a good seal on the double stick tape I took a razor and cut out the plastic to expose only the rims. It took a little while to prep but was definitely worth the results and not having to touch up the rims once they were done.
