Thinking of gear swap? Prices suck!
I am really thinking of getting the 3.91 gear swap. I have a M6 with 471HP at the rear wheels. I got two quotes and both were over $2000.
Has everyone else been doing the bushings and posi mod when they have been changing their gears, or just the gear swap?? Also curious is the stock axles will hold up, cause the next step will be drag radials? |
Dang, for that price I would just buy a 1LE diff new from GM and do the swap myself.
But I agree the days of buying $150 gear set and have a shop swap em for $250 is over on these newer Camaros. |
Your putting out the same power as mine and I'm also seriously considering the 391 gears. I was quoted at 1200 for the complete job. RPM in Delaware. I know they correct your speedo too. As far as everything else with the rear I'm not sure but think the price was just for the gears.

Ive been wanting gears from day one and Im 600 lol.

Yeah, that price was just gears. No axles work!!

I agree, just pick up a brand new differential and swap it out at that price. We have a few of them here. Let em know if you have any questions.

Take the diff out of the car yourself and have someone build it. I got charged $460 labor for the gear swap, bushing remove and install, and having billet end caps machined. $300 for gear, $600 for trutrac, $150 for Pfadt bushings, $300 for install kit. Then $1100 for axles and $900 for driveshaft. Adds up quick! Lol

GPI in Jacksonville Arkansas is supposed to be really reasonable on the gear swap an speedo fix. Sent them a email this afternoon to possibly get mine done for a early fathers day gift.

Last time I checked, you could still buy the 1LE ring & pinion set for like $400-450

My local dealer said 350ish on gears
