killed the motor on a road course

OK, I was shifting all day long between 5000 & 5500 RPM. have done this many times.
I have a little over 20k miles on the current build. I use it as a daily driver with occasional "spirited" driving on the street and road races every couple of months.

the car back fired once, that then NOTHING. did a compression test Sunday morning.......#1 had 60psi and #2 had 0psi. not good at all.

I'm guessing a timing chain or cam gear failure............ we will take it apart next week. (I have the stock chain)

so, suggestions on a rebuild?
I'd like to keep NA, with around 500hp/torque

I've been reading about the "Cadillac race lifters", what are these and what advantage do they bring?

offloading at the house............

If you decide to buy a new motor PM me. I'll sell you my LS3. 3,700 miles on it.

If you're shooting for 500rwhp, a full bolt-on car w/ cam will get you there. (I have 471 right now.)

Caddy lifters have mixed reviews. I would research lifters over on ls1tech. Much more information over there on different brands.

I went with Morels when I had to rebuild my topend.

You'll need full bolt ons, heads, the right cam to hit over 500rwhp

My cam (Night Fury from lethal) with heads on an LS3 plus boltons would get you to 500.

But especially for road racing, its not all in the hp numbers, my cam is an "all around" cam really, there might be a better one spec'd for road racing. Most of the shops on C5 can help you with a custom grind.

drivetrain warranty is bye bye the moment you internally modify, such as a cam, LTH's and tune..

OP, did you replace all the internals in your cylinder heads with the cam and upgrade the oil pump?

Dam another one down. WTF

The track you were at, did it have any high bank turns? I've heard that can kill these motors with a stock pan.

There's a company, that I can't remember their name that sells baffling that can be put in the sump of the pan.

Really sorry to hear it.

I killed mine, but it was through melted cats:

JusticePete is putting in an LS7. He has my original supercharged L99 and will be rebuilding it and reselling it. PM him for details :)

For sure not from GM. Plus I have over 20k on the shop work.

Oh yeah, long gone
Did not change the valves but everything else, yes. I upgraded the oil pump, but not the chain. The engine is not apart yet but I'm convinced that the failure is unrelated to my mods. Basically a chain failure, probably should have upgraded it while apart. The thoughts at the time were 50/50 regarding upgrading the the chain. I went with the builder's recommendation at the time. Live and learn. KEEP IN MIND nothing is definitive at the moment. Tear down is in the morning. Also hindsight is 20/20.

No not really. The front straight is only 8 degrees, the oil pressure was good all day. The failure occurred on the back straight, which is flat.

I Don't think that my issue is directly related to adding a cam. Although I'm sure that it was a contributing factor. I drove it harder and enjoyed it more.
Just my feelings......
