Those are actually my winter wheels. I normally put them on in November and drive until it starts to snow. We'll be back on the road in the spring.

The Mistress

A chapter begins and a chapter closes. It's the way things are. There are good stories and there are bad stories. Happy stories and sad stories. The story of the Mistress is a happy story and one of the best stories I have ever experienced and had the pleasure to share.

The Mistress was built especially for me; to my exact specifications on May 5th, 2009 by an exacting team or Canadian autoworkers. My gratitude to this team for their attention to detail and commitment to quality. So many of these great stories start because of the little things done on the line to the precision of their design. These workers, may not have known in the beginning how much this would mean to the owners of the 5th Gen Camaro. They probably didn't expect that so many of us would someday return with the cars that they built, transformed into living, breathing machines, with names like Mistress, Cliffy, Evl Bee, Charlotte, Dawn, Cerise and Pearl.

The Mistress was delivered on May 28th 2009 to a very excited and giddy Erick Pardo. I really had no idea myself how much more than a car this would be. From the very start, the Mistress was a head turner. Cyber Gray with silver rally strips and polished aluminum wheels. The Mistress was a Camarock-Star with her share of Camarorazzi following and stopping to ask a question or take a picture.

My first car show happened right away and Al Oppenheiser signed the hood and strut tower. Al would be the first of many significant Camaro people to sign the Mistress, including Mike Judge (Super60) and Scott Settlemire, the F-Bod Father. Many more car shows and events are in the this story. Camaro fest 2010 with my daughter Alexandra, who did her first 1/4 mile race and autocross. BBOMG with my wife Laurie. We took the Mistress to Oshawa every year. We only missed the first one. I am grateful to her for experiencing this with me. Thank you to the organizers and participants of these incredible events; Hylton, Scott and RickRay to name a few. Many other and friends and acquaintances were made along the way. I was always so glad to see how so many people from so many backgrounds, cultures could be brought together to celebrate this car and our own Camaro culture.

Mods came early and simply to personalize the Mistress. First with the window tint and finally with a supercharger that boosted her performance into V8 territory. The Mistress made it to the Top 10 Fast list in its class. Thanks mom for going with me to the track. Thanks to Mike from PFYC for the most distinctive Sinister hood. Certainly the hood alone was the reason for the last couple of trophies we were awarded.

The story of the Mistress would not be complete without the friends we made along the way. There are so many. Tim Skutt was my first Camaro friend. Thanks Tim for helping with the ambient lighting. Camaro Fest friends, BBOMG friends, and or course my Lansing friends; Michael & Melissa, Reo & Andrea. Thanks Joel for joining me on the last cruise of the Mistress. I was truly overwhelmed as I pulled out the story book I had made for car shows and started leafing through the pages. Flashbacks of all of these events came to me all at once. While it was heartbreaking for me, there will be another chapter and another story for me and for the Mistress. I’m looking forward to a new a new Camaro story and hope to continue sharing with my family and friends.
