Free OnStar?

So there's an ad on the radio... says that owners of GM car 2006 and newer can have OnStar for free, for 90 days... no obligation.

Anybody got thoughts on the matter? Is it a trick... will it takes four acts of congrees and an act of God to cancel it at the end of 90 days? Are there other costs to having it for free... like, is there a per- use charge, or anything I need to watch out for? Are the OnStar people as intellectually challenged as the Sirius XM people are (they've created a new standard for "sack of doorknobs" smart)? Will I need to crash my car at high speed in order to really get any benefit out of the offer?

From what I've read you have to have purchased a used car in order to qualify. It can't hurt to just press the button and ask though, right?

Well, that's the part I want to find out before I do press the button... if others have had massively painful experiences with OnStar, or if it's a "free" thing like the free stuff you get for attending timeshare meetings, then I will certainly decline.

I've lived without it for 2- 1/2 years worth of Camaro ownership... and for the previous 40- some years before that... but, hey, if it IS a wonderful new thing, and it won't hurt too badly, maybe I'll try it.

(The advertisement invites all owners of '06 and newer GM cars to just "press the button..." Doesn't matter how long you've owned the car, according the radio ad...)

Where I am there's few radio stations so Sirius/xm is very welcome in my cars.

Worth it. No gimmicks. No cc number needed if I remember correctly. Then when your trial is up they'll send offers to retain you at a reduced rate
