Trim that surrounds the release handle broken 3rd time

The plastic Trim piece that goes all the way across the top and surrounds the release handle has had the mounting break on the right side 3 times now.
The first time was July 2013, the second time was June 2015, now it has broken again.
Has anyone else had this piece break? It rattles like crazy when it happens.
Also anyone tell me how to remove it if GM balks at replacing it again. My extended warranty ran out in April.
I know you have to take the top loose at the front to get to the screws, just need to know how to get the front part of the top loose.

Mine is broken as well. Looks to be a PITA to change it. I have a new replacement in the basement. Someday I will change it.

Did it break on the right side?

No. Its the driver side and it is awful...Hate the rattle-LOL. I would be interested if there was a DIY on this as well. Here is a post from not too long ago on it so were not alone.

Does seem to be an issue. I wonder how many more have had this problem.
I opened a case with GM Customer service. I suggest everyone with this issue do the same.
