Does anyone carry a power wheelchair on their Camaro?
I'm facing a bit of a problem. A year ago next week I had a stroke that left my right leg partially paralyzed and very weak. My greatest worry when I was in the hospital and the rehab place was that I wouldn't get enough strength and movement in my leg that I could drive the Camaro. I had put all my spare money into the car for 2 years. It was finally the fastest car I ever owned and it looked as if I might never drive it again. I was lucky and within a couple months I was able to start driving, poorly at first but now back to normal. The problem is, I can't walk more than a couple of blocks and I'm starting to severely miss going for walks with my wife and doing other things that required more mobility. I'm seriously thinking about buying a powered wheelchair. I have no idea if I would be able to carry it on the back of my Camaro or if I would be stuck driving some boring SUV or van. Does anyone have any experience trying to carry a powered wheelchair on their Camaro?

Really glad you are still here and glad to hear about your recovery! You can most definitely install a rear hitch, but I am unsure and not too confident that it will hold the weight of those big electric wheel chairs.
I did find this though! Maybe if you do some digging on the dimensions you can utilize these folding electric wheel chairs. Best of luck. Let me know if you need some help with trying to mod something. http://www.spinlife.com/critpath/mat...categoryID=219 |
With some finesse, my wife's folding wheelchair fits in the trunk... perhaps, a better option wouldn't be a wheelchair, but a small electric scooter that can be disassembled.

Glad you are still able to motor. I have no real suggestions, but a wicked decked out Z/2.8 motorized scoot would be awesome. ;)

This thread is 4 years old... Unfortunately Lee123, the OP, hasn't posted on this forum in more than a year.
