Insurance in Houston....??

Ordered my 1LT RS IBM on 6/27 and have started looking into insurance...currently have USAA for my 00' Silverado. was quoted 1100 for 6 months full coverage...1000 from progressive...26/M/no tix/accidents

solo40oz 07-04-2009 02:34 PM

Was that $1000 every 6 mo for both cars, or just the camaro?

dayvedayve 07-04-2009 02:37 PM

Sounds a bit high. What coverage limits? Most people are getting around $300 to $500 for six months.

Try Amica, I've had them for a while now and never had a problem. I've had one car stolen and hit someone in my dad's pickup a while back. Was happy with the settlement for my SS and took care of my dad's truck quickly. Plus they gave me the cheapest quote.

Are you single? Do you have other services through them?

I am going to be switching from an 05 toyota tundra to a 1lt rs and my insurance will go up by like 10 a month. Something doesnt sound right. I have USAA too.

I will be dropping the truck insurance and only covering the camaro..i asked for full coverage w/ the tx state minimums and 500 dollar deductible. My Silverado is running around $80 a month or $480 for 6 months which isn't too bad I think but $1100.? I will try safeauto and state farm and amica and see what I can come up with...thanks for the input..ill keep shopping

kellertxgen5 07-05-2009 04:21 PM

Did you give them the VIN of a similar car?

Vash 07-05-2009 04:25 PM

It's probably your zip code too. Progressive is about as inexpensive as it get's.

That's who I use.

my2010camaross 07-06-2009 05:07 AM

state farm gave me a 450 for 6 months quote when I gave them my vin. I'd try them.
No tix/accidents. Plus, everything else we have is insursed by them.

buster6070 07-06-2009 03:11 PM

Let us know who you end up going with/best rate. Might be time for me to go back and compare prices mysef.

I priced Farm Bureau, Nation Wide, and State Farm and all were about the same. About $130.00 per month. I am 45 with NO tickets or accidents. How are ya'll getting those cheap quotes????:help:

jeansonne627 07-06-2009 03:39 PM

OK, did some calling...my parents have 4 cars insured through state farm and I have my own through USAA....adding my camaro to the family's seems to be the cheapest at 715/6months liability/collision/comprehensive...with the multi car discount...alone on my own policy state farm is 900 for the 6 months. Gulf Coast insurance prices blow.

kellertxgen5 07-06-2009 04:08 PM

My quote will be 130 a month for my 2010 1LT RS and my wife's 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor.

Deductible is 1000 I think and I am USAA member 28 married to 27 year old. no tix since 2000 DUI.

Not sure how I get insurance so cheap, but I also have 2 other services through them so I know I get a multiline discount.

I called State Farm today and they quoted $322 for 6 months for an SS. Laughed my ass off, I pay $308 for 6 months for my 2005 Minivan. This is too good, of course I'm 60 with no tickets. Little do they know its because I haven't been caught. I can't wait to ride some assholes bumper with my Halo's on, the left lane is mine.
