1993 Corvette LT-1 Convertible

My buddy (the one with the 1977 Corvette) just picked up a 1993 Corvette with a 6sp manual. He wants to run me for fun. Looking at the specs, I have roughly 120-130hp more, but he's about 700lbs lighter. I think it would be a good match, but I should have him. Thoughts?

Here's his:

Your 3.91s should definitely help

You should win. Those cars with an auto back then with superior traction were high 13 second cars on average. There mph was around 100 - 102. The only thing you would have to worry about in the c4 generation would be the 1996 if it was a Grand Sport edition or a 6-speed manual because they had the LT4. I think you will be just fine weight difference or not. The LT1's felt torquey, but would fall on there face in the upper rpm range.

You WILL win.. unless its a C4 ZR1.. Then you'd lose!!!

No, it's the base car if you look at the pic. A ZR-1 would be pretty sweet.....

Thanks all! :)

I knew what you meant. :)

I agree with the C4 ZR-1 owners that felt gyped when they added the squared off tail lights on the regular Corvettes. It lost all specialness from the outside.

Lol :smm7::laughabove:

I did whoop a Mazdaspeed 6 so far. :lol: And today a Rustang convertible going the other way did the slow down and rev nonsense. :D

The Hemi Challenger guy I work with hasn't been around lately. I think I can actually run this Vette. I'm fairly confident I have it as my car sits, let alone after the headers. :)

Stock, the LT1 Corvettes ran mid 13's in the 1/4 mile.

Being a convertible, he has an additional brace under the car that adds a bit of weight. With the ZF6 he has the Dana 44 rear end with 3:45 gears.

You should pull away at the top end pretty well, I would think. His only true advantage is aero, but it's not enough.

Instinctively, I have to take the Chevy in that match up. :)

I'm not sure how good my buddy is with the stick. I'd be more worried if his car was an automatic.
