New Camaro "almost-owner"

Greetings guys and gals,
my name's Vadim, and soon i'm (not me, actually, but my wife) gonna be an owner of 2010 Camaro 1LT.
Why "almost-owner"? First, because i live far from US or even North America. I'm from Belarus (a small country near Russia). And 2nd, i bought salvaged car, so I count on your advices - there are no Chevrolet dealerships here, but fortunately I'm a DIY guy.

Right now car is in NJ port, waiting to be shipped.

I'll post my progress on the car rebuild process once it arrives and i get my hands into it. Hopefully, it'll be a nice BD present for my my wife when i'm done.

Once again, hi everyone and...sorry for my bad English :)

Thanx guys, here are some pics of what i've purchased:

The car starts and drives, and has no frame damage according to carfax.
The whole front fascia and fenders are already purchased and are on the way to the port.
The first question - what is this black piece of frame just below the bumper reinforcement on the 2nd pic? I haven't been able to find it in the parts catalogs

Vadim, CONGRATS, and boy do you have your hands full.....looks like a a real project! I am sure we can adn will help you all we can.

oh and btw.....Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.

You would not believe....but that's what i'm doing right :) Laying back, drinking beer :)

What bought me in that car is that airbags weren't deployed - the only reason i can find is that it was smacked while being parked.

Actually thats a simple fix. Once he gets a hold of the bumper support beam (or whatever its called) and gets the sheet metal bolted in its not bad at all. Hardest part is the door skin... Everything else is bolt up.

The fact the airbags werent blown is huge. They tend to mess up a lot of stuff when they go... They have been known to twist a 4th gens frame if all the windows are up so I have heard. :iono:

WOW!!! :confused0068: If that's the same car you did a freakin' AWESOME job on rebuilding it!!:bow: Doesn't even look like it's had any damage to it!! Great job!! Congrats on the purchase, the rebuild, and the BD present for the wifey!! She will love it!!! You are an awesome hubby!! Oh, and welcome to C5!!! Sorry it's late!! :D

mortefer 08-23-2011 03:37 PM

Thank you guys :)
It took almost half a year to bring car here to my country and fix it. But I guess the wait is worth every moment.
Still some minor job has to be done (like fog lights and such) but that's nothing compared to what's done already.
