*_Eric_*'s OMINOUS Build
After reading through some build threads I thought I'd start my own. I took ownership of my car April 6th, 2010. I purchased it in Duluth, GA at Rick Hendrick's Chevrolet. Last year I had paid it off and decided to start modding.
So far it's almost stock. I installed my MGW shifter and Borla Atak axle back last summer while I was home on R&R. I bought a bunch more goodies while I've been in Afghanistan. 2" ARH catted LT's & catback (Installed) 102mm FAST Intake NoWeed's diverters (Installed) Vortech YSI tuner kit 72lb injectors Aeroforce Eliminator Fuel Pump (Purchased this, injectors and YSI from RDP) Aeroforce LS3 fuel rails Aeroforce pump speed controller Pfadt engine mounts (installed) Pfadt Subframe bushings (thanks paramo!) Thanks! I've been meaning to get in contact with you guys for a blower cam for this car. Only thing is I don't want to do any fly cutting. Any suggestions? |
I finally tore into the car this past week dropping the rear cradle (by myself) and installed the new arms, bushings, sway bar and air bags. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...384c162e86.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...05d7cf53f6.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...eff033b6d6.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...9122b9d681.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...42ed557f1a.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...24106e9f7a.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...31a861a577.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...17a6114601.jpg
I did some more work today and will try to include a write up of how to install everything from now on as I go along. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So today I got quite a bit done. First I started by mounting my tank, manifolds and controller to a piece of MDF (it's temporary until I construct a custom tank). Sorry I have no picture of that, I'll get it tomorrow. Then I got to mounting my air compressor. I asked earlier today if anyone had any suggestions but I didn't get any responses so I jumped right into it. I took a couple pictures of my now hidden compressor. I may opt to putting it on the outside of the vehicle if it gets too warm, because it does touch the carpeting. If that happens I'll mount it just to the outside of the right muffler on the bottom side of the trunk behind the wheel. There looks to be plenty of space there. ANYWAYS... here's a couple of pictures of the custom job I did.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow so here are the two more pictures of the air tank and manifolds.

Here's a little DIY for the front AirLift install:
First disconnect the brake line. Just a 10mm bolt Attachment 722589 Next remove the tie rod from the shock housing. I think it was a 15mm nut. Attachment 722590 Or you can disconnect it from the front sway bar. Attachment 722591 Next remove the two bolts that hold your caliper onto the spindle. They are 18mm. Attachment 722592 Here I used a little pry bar to help free the caliper from the rotor. Attachment 722593 |

Front airbag install continued:
Ziptie the caliper to the frame or body to prevent stretching or breaking your brake line. Attachment 722594 Get a jack to support the front spindle Attachment 722595 Remove the two bolts from the strut to the front spindle. They were 15/16". Before doing so, if you have a camber adjustment bolt make sure to mark it and remove it before removing these two bolts. Attachment 722596 Don't forget to remove the sensor wire from the shock housing! Attachment 722599 |

Front Airbag install:
Remove the cap to the upper strut revealing the nut Attachment 722600 Remove the bolt. It's a 15/16 or whatever mm equivalent. Attachment 722601 Remove the old strut and spring. It should come out easily. If not just give a tap or two with a deadblow hammer. Attachment 722602 Install the supplied bushing to the airbag. Attachment 722603 Install your air fitting. I actually ended up putting on the supplied 1/2" braided airline instead of this fitting. Attachment 722604 Next install the supplied spacer. Attachment 722605 Then install the airbag up into the housing and reuse the old rebound bushing. Attachment 722606 |

Front Airbag install:
Install the nut to secure the airbag to the strut housing and torque them down. Attachment 722607 Install the two bolts to the front spindle and torque them down. In this case I did not have a camber bolt. If you do have one, reinstall it to as close as it was prior to removal before tightening and torquing the two spindle bolts. This won't guarantee proper camber alignment but it should be close. Attachment 722608 Cut the zip tie while supporting the caliper and reinstall it onto the rotor. Torque down the two 18mm bolts. Attachment 722609 Reinstall the sensor wire to the lower strut bracket on the new airbag. Attachment 722610 Install the supplied nut and bolt for the brake line. Attachment 722611 And there you have it! Just repeat for the other side and install your air lines. At this time I went ahead and replaced my front sway bar with a 27mm Pedders sway bar which was four 1/2" nuts. When removing the front sway bar you have to remove your motor mount bolts to jack up the engine. There were two 18mm nuts on the motor mount and four 15mm bolts to the motor mount bracket on each side. I replaced these as well with Pfadt solid engine mounts. Once the engine is jacked up, I was able to remove the front sway bar through the passenger side. I could not get it through the driver's side as a video I referred to suggested. |
