Don't make me send a wrecker out to your work to haul it down there. :paddle:

Well, you don't expect me to actually DRIVE all the way to Houston on Drag Radials & Skinnies, do ya?!?!?!?!? Yep, I just limited my drivability AGAIN by getting another fatty/skinny set-up as my ONLY wheels/tires!!!! How 'bout if you come meet me in Sturgis this Summer instead??? Nah.......1/8 mile track......forgot about that!!! They need to fix that already!!!!

Congrats on your new and longest set of tires you'll ever own - front skinnies. :bellyroll:

HAHAHAHA!!!! I spit my coffee everywhere when I read that....that's funny stuff there!!!! LOLOL!!!! Unfortunately, you're probably right!!!

Dang it man. I may be able to sell you my stockers or maybe just fronts.
U haul it down there like I did for a while
A friend of mine rented a truck to tow his camaro to your Sturgis show last year. He is gonna do it again for Texas fest.

Nope, couldn't afford to keep the Forgestars and buy the new Welds.....so the Forgestars are gone!!! I sold my front 20" tires too, but still trying to sell the rears. My car is airborne on (4) jack stands right now!!! I don't think I'll make it all the way down to Houston this Summer, too far of a drive for me, especially towing a car trailer!!!! I don't get that much vacation time!!! That's a 3-day drive (one-way) from here, even without towing a trailer!!! I will probably go to Sturgis, but I will try to find a trailer to borrow or rent for that too....if possible. Don't really want to drive that far on M&H DR's!!!!

McCormack just gave me what I thought was a pretty good deal on these $219 ea. (shipped), so I made the commitment!!! Guess I'm going to try these things out!!!

Racer's discount. Free shipping, too

SlowTurtle 12-19-2013 08:16 AM

Update on these: Mine are scheduled to ship today. Little early XMas surprise, they've been backordered for a good while. I'll take some detailed measurements when they get here.

Cool!!!! Hopefully, that means that mine will be shipping soon too!!! I ordered them last week with McCormack Racing.

Pro Stock John 12-19-2013 10:52 AM

Jegs or Summit or both over discounts to racers who have their NHRA license (10.00 and quicker).

I'd like to see how much the skinnies weigh with these tires.

Questions:

1. Any safety concerns trapping above 130?
2. Will it pass tech to 10.00 or faster? (NMCA/LSX events)

I would be concerned with that tires load rating. Especially the weight of a 5th gen front end with a blower. If it's H rated then it's rated for 130mph of CONSTANT speed. I don't think getting up to a very short burst of 140mph is going to affect it. I have seen guys with Radial T/A's go 120mph plus at the drag strip multiple times and never have a problem. I think the Radial T/A's are only rated for 108mph. Its the load rating at those speeds that I would worry about on this new tire.

Thanks for the comment. I've seen guys with big HP race with GTO Spares, with the stock spare tire!

But I'd like to do it once, right. My GTO was ghetto, my Camaro... less so. ;)

Like I said its the weight rating I would be worried about. Our front end with driver has got to be over 2050lbs.

Has anyone actually received and installed the MT 28" Radial skinny yet?

Not that I know of. I've had mine on order for about a month now!!! I was told they would be "released" sometime in January….so, I guess we'll see.

Pro Stock John 01-14-2014 02:21 PM

Jason from MT said in a thread on the bullet we are looking at end of the month.

SlowTurtle 01-22-2014 02:54 PM

These got pushed back to Mid Feb at the earliest (fourth date I've gotten now) so I just ordered a second set of M&H fronts since I'm sick of waiting. Maybe the boat from china got lost. I'll order these again when they physically show up

Hmmmm, that's not good news. I can wait until the end of Feb, but if they're not delivered by then, I will cancel and go with the M&H too!!!

acowherd 01-22-2014 06:09 PM

Well I just put an order in for them!!

17 welds all around and M&H racemaster DRs and MT radial fronts.

Let the waiting begin!

blazzin1 01-23-2014 12:44 PM

I talked with M/T today about their new radial skinnies that I have had on order for about a month now. They confirmed it would be late February (at the earliest) that I would possibly receive them. I didn't get a very "warm fuzzy" about that date either!!! I'm not sure at this point if I should just cancel and order the M&H, or wait it out....

I don't really even NEED the tires until the end of Feb.....but if they get delayed again after that, I'm gonna end up getting pissed off!!!! Hmmmmm......what to do....what to do????

Warhorse 02-12-2014 06:12 PM

Has anyone that ordered these new radials received them yet?
I ordered mine before Christmas and have not heard anything.

I'm in the same exact boat as you. I think I ordered mine on Dec 19th. I'm trying to be as patient as possible, but my patience is wearing thin already. If I don't get some good news soon, I'll probably cancel these and just go with the bias-ply M&H's.

Thought I'd share my New MT 28" radials I received yesterday. Here you go! Now the WELD wheels wait begins.... May 7th couldn't get here any faster.

Also, found a GREAT place to purchase complete set from and best pricing anywhere I've seen even with the group buys. PM me if you want more info on where and who.

Don't quote me but I believe the price on these were just under $190 each with free shipping and no tax.. Received them 3 days later from order

While I'm posting the weight thought I'd show the M&H 325 as well. Also, the other 2 tires were within an ounce of each other..

VADER SS L99 04-10-2014 11:25 PM

Could you do us a solid and report what the max load rating will be? It should be on the side of the tire. Thanks.

Sure thing. Sorry, just noticed the post. I'll look later today on lunch or tonight and post.

Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R 28x6.00R17 front runner Radial

MAX LOAD 1175 LBS at 50 PSI COLD

And the BORN on DATE was the 9th week of 2014 just in case anyone wanted to know when manufactured..

I had the max psi cold incorrect for these front runners. It says 50. NOT 60. Although still high I just wanted to correct. I'll post installed pics later.

white ZL1 04-11-2014 05:41 PM

So basically you're going to be running these at 55-60 psi all the time?

Probably 60! :) lol I don't know.. I'll see how they feel and start smart. Not sure why such a low load rating but not gonna lose too much sleep over it. I'll post some pics when mounted on the car at couple different psi ranges if anyone wants?

grocerygetter 04-11-2014 10:35 PM

So 2350 lbs over front of car. Parked no issue, accelerating no issue, sudden stop....eh?

Pro Stock John 04-12-2014 08:07 PM

So what you wise old men are saying is that the load rating is kinda low for our cars... Interesting.
