Most annoying Forum pet peeve!!!!

Example:

"My name is bob! I just joined the group! Where can I find info on the 6.2L V8 Cold air intakes? Thanks! Excited to join you guys!"

Member response: ":emoticon6: use the search function!"

Another Member response ":search: Yah idiot, why you asking questions in a camaro forum about your camaro? Search for it on google or something"

This is my most hated pet peeve of any forum. Some people don't know how to use search. Not to mention you didn't even welcome them to the group. Now, Bob the new guy has no interest in coming back to the forum and it turns out Bob owns some crazy business that gives away free vinyl decals and crap and you guys pushed him away.

Ok! What are some of your pet peeves?

HartfordRacingCaptain 07-25-2018 09:44 AM

People who title their threads "I NEED MAJOR HELP WITH *blank* NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

U LUZE 07-25-2018 09:59 AM

I would second the "search is your friend" reply. Often times the search function brings up old threads that may or often may not be the most current options or opinions. Plus, it doesn't give a real welcoming feeling to the new people. JMO.

Well for one, the search function sucks for the most part.

My biggest pet peeve is people coming on here to sell stuff, you reply to their ad, PM them, etc. and never see a response. THEN days/weeks later they bump their for sale ad.

I have tried to buy several things on here and it has happened time and again.

The sheer irrationality of some forum users is my ultimate pet peeve about forums. Ex: Corvette Forum and sadly, lots of members on Camaro6 now that the Gen6 is priced into corvette territory.

This is just my observation, but perhaps if the person wrote that he or she had used the search option and/or made some effort to do some research themselves but couldn’t quite find all the information they were looking for, then asked for some elaboration, clarification or updated information they wouldn’t appear like a idiot.

99.9% of the time it’s some lazy a$$ who can’t be bothered to do the research and go straight to the “PLEASE HELP ME! How many quarts of oil does my car hold?”

And if you can’t figure out how to use google or the search option, you might be a monumental gump and probably shouldn’t have a drivers license in the first place. I’ve used the search option countless times and found exactly what I needed.

Personally I don’t have any “Pet Peeves” If you let something on this forum annoy you...I’d take up yoga or meditation or some $hit.

Post 1 a question is asked.
Post 2 the question is answered (correctly)
8 pages later the discussion is still going on.
You guys must be missing your wife:lol:

The secret pet peeve seldom spoken out loud.

Royal Tiger 07-25-2018 12:25 PM

Mine are-

Drives: a car
Location: Earth

Then of course they ask for help so we have to spend time asking what do you drive and where do you live. Is it so hard to not be a smartass on the avatar info box questions? :)

I hate the stupid questions that have been answered 1000x, but more than that I can't really stand the fact that this forum does everything it can to discourage great content that is borne out of passionate discussion. You simply aren't allowed to stand up for yourself, correct someone when they are wrong... and as a result misinformation and opinions are passed along as fact.

Really has to suck for the lesser-educated that don't know any better and can't really discern what is valid and what isn't. Passion is key, enthusiasm is passion... doing anything to stifle that doesn't help improve the community imo.

...and I'll just await my ban for posting this.

I have a different pet peeve with replies to questions, besides telling people to search.

Answering a new thread sarcastically. When a day or two have passed and there are over a dozen replies, it doesn't bother me. But if in the first couple of replies, someone comes in with a smartass reply just to amuse themselves ... that bugs me. Because that then encourages others to do the same and the whole thread becomes useless to the person who wanted help in the first place. Or worse, they manage to take the bad advice earnestly. Either way, more often than not it sours newcomers to the community.

Again, if a question has been adequately answered already and someone wants to make a joke after ... go right ahead. No harm done.

My pet peeve is when someone posts something for sale and then says buyer pays all paypal fees. Y cant u just add the 3% that paypal charges you the seller to ur price or u take the hit. Most of the time it would end up only being a couple of dollars. Makes people look stingy and cheap imo.
