Powerstop Drilled and Slotted Rotors Help

Hey guys,

I bought drilled and slotted rotors from Brakemotive and they turned out to be Powerstop rotors. Look great!

My brembo pads had plenty of life on them and looked fine and I reused them.

My brakes seem to be less aggressive now, they dont seem to bite as hard as my factory rotors.

Did I skip something? I didn't break in the pads as they are already worn in.

The silver zinc coating is rubbing off, is that maybe what's causing the brakes to perform worse than the stockers? Maybe the zinc coating is causing a slick surface?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Did you bed in your brakes with the new rotors?

I drove it down to the gym and back, which is about 14 miles round trip and that's all I have driven it since the swap. I was not aware there was a process for when you swap rotors only. I thought that was only breaking in new pads. Thank you for the information. I will use the procedure provided and let you all know how it goes.

Thank you very much

You lose the bite for less brake dust sadly.

That's what I've read on here.

I still have the stock Brembo brake pads on there, my car has super low miles so I reused them since they had alot of life on them. I only swapped rotors.

Thats why i stuck to semi-metallics. idc aboutthe dust. i wash my car 1-2x a week half the time (when its not 105 out)

i don't think drilled and slotted after market rotors are aupgrade or an improvement.

From what I have read and felt, with no specific data to back my butt feel, full face rotors are the way to go for max grip. There are some slight benefits to using drilled/slotted in certain applications, but not when seeking max bite. They do look nice though, which is why my car currently has them. Not bedding them in though will exacerbate the issue. That should be done any time you change pads/rotors.

I did the break in procedure provided with the new rotors. It is much better but still a little less bite than solid rotors.

I am using my stock Brembo Semi-Metallic pads but it may lose even more bite with ceramics.

probably will stay with semi metallic even though there is SO much brake dust.

I didn't go to ceramics either. I just got a nice soft bristle brush and give them a hose and quick scrub every couple weeks.

Powerstop pads are/were pretty lousy from my experience as well. All brembo now and haven't looked back. I can deal with the dust.

Powerstops are garbage. Every swap I have done has led to reduced braking performance.

Yeah probably better off with some low end brake-best stuff from oreillys. Powerstop won't get another dime from me ever.
