Test drive both cars again, maybe at a different stealership. If you have only driven each once your opinion may change the 2nd time.

When I went to buy my Camaro, I hadn't drove a manual in over 2yrs lol. I did stall it once on the road, but it came back to me like a 6th sense. Very easy once you get it down and you won't even forget how to do it :thumb:

OP,
Get the manual. I find the clutch to be user friendly and I do not have any high-rpm shift grinding. The Dual Mode Exhaust is the way to go in the Camaro. I came from a c6 Corvette that had the Dual Mode and the Camaro sounds so much better. Hope this helps. |
Aite, guess I'm doing a manual and gonna use the next few months till it gets here practicing on rentals when the budget allows :P

Eich,
have you changed your trans fluid and put in a good hi temp brake fluid? the stock fluid gets filthy down in there and its not very good when it gets hot. best bet is install a separate res for the clutch but at least put in some good fluid like ATF super blue. pump the clutch like 20 times, suck out the old brake fluid put in new, repeat til it stops getting dirty. then bleed the brakes to get the good fluid down to the brakes. this is a good mod that wont win a car show, but will help the performance of your car. my clutch was horrible until i did this. |

1LE 1st gear is 2.66:1 SS 1st gear s 3.01:1 So the 1LE is actually geared higher overall. Thanks |
It took a few days to get used to my 2010 SS short throw, but now when I drive my 5 speed truck, it feels like going from gear-to-gear takes two feet. It's still hard to drive 1-2-3-4 with a passenger and make each transition smooth. I typically drive 1-3 and 3-5. You'll love the 6 speed unless you drive in a lot of traffic. Bumper-to-bumper everyday with a stick would wear on you.

Having owned a 2011 l99 ss for a year or so then switching to the ls3 2013 I can frankly tell you the dual mode and manual trans rock..........This is not a stick the pedal to the floor to shift clutch its in getting the feel and knowing you only have to push it half way in to get the gears changed, and if you did not notice it being faster and nicer than the auto with its annoying paddle shift.........well you were the average person test driving, I mean I sure the heck did not rev it up and bang gears in the 4000-5000 rpm range with a salesman in the car.......LOL I was in a 35 mph zone all the way, yet I knew it would rock, and totally am happy with the new car. And yes I stalled at first driving it getting used to the clutch, LOL I drive a clutch at work all the time a 1988 dodge ram four speed that you have to stick to the floor and the pedal is mush and 1st gear is never used..............

For the OP.
Every car is different. You will get used to it in short order. |
Non issue within a week of owning it

That's a handy program. Little lower in some gears, little higher in others. My point is just that the lower rear end of the 1LE doesn't equate to the car being geared lower than an SS, which is what most assume because they aren't aware of the tranny differences. |
