The Dale Earnhardt Intimidator Camaro Released

25 Attachment(s)
Heres a couple links to the Dale Earnhardt "Intimidator" Camaro's.
I personally know each and every guy who worked on,and built these cars.
As you can imagine theres a lot of thought, time, effort, and work that went into every one.

Quote:

The Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet Intimidator Camaro

Empowered by a highly modified, supercharged V8 the produces an intimidating 704hp and 695 lbs-ft of torque at 11psi boost! Also adding to its substantial performance is a highly modified suspension, chassis, exhaust system, brakes and fuel system. It even sports a racing, Intimidator shifter that is built from one solid piece of aluminum, is grooved for improved grip and is anodized black with a 3 on top as well as an Intimidator logo down the shaft. But power isn’t the only thing that will make this car monumental. Its appearance carries definite cues from the race cars that Dale Earnhardt used during his reign of Intimidation. Cues like a racing inspired, aluminum blade spoiler with support braces and a more modern racing splitter with support braces for improved downforce. To push more air to the monster of an engine, as well as to give it an even more threatening look, a front induction hood with a raised cowl is installed. Finishing off the look is chrome plated Intimidator badges, a classic looking heritage grille, menacing afterburner tail lamps and chromed wheels with Intimidator engraved on a spoke. Suited for the straights of the track but will easily own the streets, this car is sure to live up to its name and Intimidate everyone that spots it in their mirrors!

PRICE: $79,993

It's refreshing to see a 5th gen custom without all those gaudy bodykits, colors, lights, etc.

I wasn't big on the car of tomorrow inspired spoilers until I read the specs:

http://www.earnhardtautomotive.com/

With 704hp and 695 pound of torque were talking some practical application here.

Kahdir 05-02-2011 01:35 AM

Meh :iono:

It's ironic how much it has cues from the COT considering how his death brought about some of the changes

704 is flywheel hp,the cars dyno'd between 530-540 rear-wheel horsepower on a load bearing dyno.

Oh yeah, they produced 83 of those GMMG built Camaro's,those are some nice 4th gens. Whats different about the new 5th gens. is they are building these "in-house" at the dealership.

Aren't the 400 in the L99 and 426 in the LS3 not at the flywheel?........

DarkneSS 05-02-2011 08:36 AM

I hate the spoilers, they look cheap.

NavyDood 05-02-2011 08:39 AM

Sorry, but what a waste of time, money and resources.

2010SLVRBULIT 05-02-2011 09:04 AM

Yeah I agree,The spoilers/splitters wouldn't look particularly good on any other Camaro, but you have to understand the theme they were going for with this car, since he was a NASCAR driver, and the cars have spoilers/splitters on them,it fits that theme.
Not everyone is going to like them.

Just curious, but what is the difference in the Historical edition and the standard edition, other than $6,000 and does it have a warranty?

The historical editions have badging on them to recognize important achievements in Dale's career....1979 rookie of the year,'80-'86-'87-'90-'91-'93 & '94 Winston Cup Champion,4-time IROC champion, and 2001 Most popular driver.

If it was something that wasn't modified there should be no warranty issue, and the modification items have their own warranties,I'm sure they won't leave anyone hanging if they have a problem.

Yeah, me too and I'm not really a NASCAR fan. There is a guy that has 2 in Isle of Palms near Charleston, very jealous.

No those are at the flywheel too.

DarkneSS 05-02-2011 03:27 PM

They should have wrapped the chrome on the spoilers in CF, that would have looked much better...

SILVERHAWK 05-02-2011 03:40 PM

NIIIIIIICEEE!!!! LOVE IT!! THANKS FOR POSTING

PYROLYSIS 05-02-2011 06:16 PM

After looking at this car for an hour now, I am in love! Only thing I would change is the spoiler and front splitter, but I can understand why they're on there. Just awesome.

see now i am confused. i have heard with the vortec supercharger you get 600 to the crank, and to the wheels you should be putting down around 530-540. guess different dynos different numbers. and i do not know what dyno those results for vortech came off of.

shevyman 05-02-2011 06:31 PM

now for the car. i do like it it does look good. now just to make sure! is this a DALE EARNHARDT OR JR? i know some people will say it does not say jr so no its not or something rude. but you never know. that is why i am asking. but if i would have known and was not impatient i would buy only if it was not a jr.

Kilo-9 05-02-2011 08:19 PM

The theme of this car is based on Dale, Sr.

Yep,different dyno's will give different results, these cars were run on a Mustang load-bearing dyno, and produced between 530-540 rear-wheel horsepower,on a "non" load-bearing dyno (such as a lot of Dynojet's) they would probably show a 15-18% increase which would be around 630.
They factored everything in at the flywheel/crank to be around 704 hp. But like I said,"true" rear-wheel hp is between 530-540.

JR3 05-03-2011 04:01 AM

Other than the front splitter i think it looks ok. That front splitter with those braces would have to come off right away. Dont think it looks good. They finally took them off the NASCAR COT race cars as well.

Funny you mention that,I mentioned that as well to my buddy (who was one of the lucky techs who got to build the cars!) and he said maybe they would do something different for the 2012's if they continue to build them.

I understand the theme with the spoiler and splitter. Are there other options for the spoiler and splitter?

You could have them special build you one the way you want and leave them off, maybe go with a different front splitter, and an SLP rear spoiler instead.
What they actually do for the rear is buy new decklids from GM without the spoiler holes,It was cheaper, easier, and better for them to do that instead of trying to fill the factory ones in the original lids.

Shifty 6 05-03-2011 08:09 AM

The guy is dead. I could understand finishing the build on the first one, but whoever came up with this is just cashing in on his name. Personally, this shows no class.

I don't care how much of a "tribute" it is to him. I used to be an Earnhardt fan and respected him and his business, but when he died so did his character and integrity. Who ever is running that thing, I think its the wife, is a bit of a gold digger IMO.

Common place in todays society. Ride the coat tails for all it's worth no matter how foolish it makes a person or company look.
