Jeeez. Enjoy your LS man, it's a great car, with a great motor. I love my 13 RS M6, and have owned too many Mustangs to count, including a 2011 5.0.

if his primary concern is speed, then yes, that would be the easiest route. . that's why they make a SS. for people who want to run below 14 ;)

and no, I do not own a SS, just the V6

RS Speedriver 07-29-2013 12:42 PM

we can make our v6 just as fast as an ss. spend some money and we can still keep up with you

We had a member with a 2010 LT auto that ran low 12s on 125 shot. Had to sell it due to economic/family reasons though. Might find some posts in the Motorsports section about him. He was Rod1 on here.

I'll be happy with a simple 13.9. That's all I'm after

If you beat a 5.0.. well then he wasn't trying or had absolutely no idea how to drive even starting off like a wimp he should have been able to fly right past you. There is a big difference between a stock mid/high 14's car and a stock high 12's car...

Also if money is not an issue, go boost or swap in an V8 Crate motor.

J_Vibe92 07-29-2013 02:21 PM

ive beat a new 5.0 off the line to about mid second gear. By the end of second gear we were pretty close. its 3rd where the pass you.

And btw this is almost every time.

Why do you have to come on a post obviously created for V6 camaros and flame people. I'm sure there are plenty of V8 posts that would better suit your needs. We are all here to help each other not demean or put down. Just relax, and take a deep breath.

3.55 gears in the auto aren't worth it in my opinion. The money you're going to spend for the gains aren't worth it. It'd be better to pony up for the v8 rear end and have the choice for a lot more gears and get an LSD while you're at it.

Intake, tune, And if you are making enough power to where traction is an issue, then get tires.

Lose some weight, lighter wheels. A scoop for the cai?

Some supporting suspension mods. If you are going to put a ton of money in, you really should just get a V8, unless having a really quick V6 is one of your goals.

In that case, you can look into turbo/supercharger applications and engine work. But it didnt sound like you wanted to get into all that.

IMO, and this is what i might do...do the bolts ons, and maybe some new rims/tires, tune, then you should be in high 13s with good DA and if you know how to race haha

then wait for the 6th gen SS, barring that it isnt ugly, then get a 1ss and permagrin. Thats what I will do. Im waiting for the 2nd year of the 6th gen cause the 1st year is always something wrong, but thats with everything

Exactly. Some of the guys saying "get a v8" arent bashing v6's, because in the end it really is the most economical way (imo) to get more power, and there are so many more parts and shops available for getting power out of the v8s.

And if 13's are the OP's goal, then you just need a 1SS and you're done lol. I had a v6 4th gen, and just did bolt ons to enjoy it more, and waited till I could afford the V8 to get some real performance.

J_Vibe92 07-29-2013 03:03 PM

correct but still to many people have to need to show that they are better than the v6 owners. most v6 owners will get a v8 but like me, it wasnt economically safe for me to get one. That and i was 17 when i got this car so i felt i shouldnt get a v8 as my first car, i need to earn it.. which i will
