Got the car today, I think I set a new record!

Today was almost a great day. They called me and said my car was ready
to be picked up. I had my wife drop me off so I could take my new car home.
I walked in did the paperwork, thanked my salesman and drove away.

Here's where it gets good. As I leave the dealership I merge onto the highway
and after about 5 miles I gave it a little gas. I looked down and I was at 100MPH. I could not believe how quick I hit 100. So I start to slow up, and out of the corner of my eye I see a police officer on a street next to the feeder
road. I think to myself good thing he isn't working radar. The next thing I know he is trying to make it onto the highway and his light are on! Sure enough he's coming to get me. I am now SIX miles from the dealership, and have been in the car for TWO minutes.

He walks up to the car and he is pissed. He tells me to get my insurance and drivers license and get out of the car. He asked me if I knew how fast I was going. I told him I had no idea. He said take a guess, I said 80-85.
He said I clocked you at 100, and you need to tell me why I shouldn't take you to jail. I explained that my only excuse was the dealer will not let anyone take these cars out for a test drive, and I had just purchased the car five minutes ago and didn't realize how fast it was. He goes back to his car to run my info. When he gets back he's in a little better mood. He tells me to take the car to a track if I want to drive that fast. I told him I respect the job he does, and I know he doesn't need to worry about a guy going 100MPH on the highway.

The last thing I told him was about a bunch of guys on this forum who were being pulled over, but the office mostly just wanted to look at the car, and was letting them go with a warning. He laughed a little and said, not at 100.
So, I apologized and thanked him and drove the speed limit back to the house. My wife didn't beleive me when I called her and told her the story until I showed her the proof. Here is the copy below:facepalm:

I was doing about 140 when I had a weird sense to slow down fast.

Cop got me at 85 in a 65. He was cool and he knew I was going faster, but didnt zap me in time. He wrote me for 85 in a 65 so I didnt have to go to court.

I asked them if they break a lot of parts beating on their cars and he said "only when Im trying to catch up to orange Camaros".

You did set a record....6 miles from the Dealership in 2 minutes = 180 MPH average Speed. Glad the Cop didn't haul you off to Jail and leave that beautiful beast on the side of the road to get towed.

:sm0:... My advice would be to invest in a really good radar detector. I installed the Escort 9500 ix at the dealership before I left and it saved me from getting two tickets on the way home.

:readthethread: He said 100. Not 180.

I guess he was cool if he saved me 80MPH.

The sad thing is I have the 9500ix, it's in my other car  it has saved my ass many many times. It's the best one I have ever owned.
