Revo1 looking for S/C???

Yes, it's true. I have a whole year to do this before the next C5F, so in no rush. Just keep me posted if anyone comes across a stellar deal  :drinking:

I need something that will be friendly for a daily diver. I don't know a whole bunch about them yet, but I'm starting to read up on what's what. :chevy:

I hear ya! I got the 67 project I'd love to sell off and put the money into other stuff but wifey wants to keep it... I'll never sell the 89 since my dad bought it new. You're 02 is stunning so if you parted with it, you should get good money but that's your baby... isn't it? :iono: ;)

Tshepp 04-23-2011 08:17 PM

I am looking for one as well...Just curious, which unit are u thinking about going with?

Milk 1027 04-23-2011 08:18 PM

After hearing Mindz's car, I am leaning more towards a centrifugal S/C.

:word: J's car sounds wicked, and you can see how fast that thing is...

Honestly I just want something that will be dependable for a DD. A little extra grunt will go a long way with this car, and I don't need to be shredding the Pirellis on accident all day long. Just want something that will be reliable, and won't break the bank. Anyone have suggestions?

Oh and an audible whine is a definite plus :headbang:

It definitely is! I don't think I'll ever have the heart to sell it, not even for major 5th gen mod money :chevy:

He has the "Quiet" version, and he BOV is LOUD!!!!
We had a little "race", and I thought I was actually keeping up with him with the "pink" car, until I heard the blow off valve, and it took off.
Later he told me I was actually keeping up with him, only becuase his tires were spinning.......

Well... if you dont want a lot of power added you could go with the baby maggie the TVS 1900 with the 1:1 rear drive pulley makes it whine... Most people go with the TVS 2300. I think the 1900 on the L99 is good for maybe 450 rwhp with supporting mods. Thats a guess... You'd be totally safe with that much power. The 2300 is good for a lot more and it all depends on drive pulleys and what not...

Something like this deal:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135782

Otherwise your getting into the big power adders... Whipple, Vortec, Kennebell, procharger... I mean you can turn them down but if you only want a little bit... why pay for a lot?

lewylew 04-23-2011 09:06 PM

$30.00 can win you one. Even if you don't win the supercharger it is for a great cause. Win Win

Win a supercharger thread

The 1900 can make just as much power as the 2300 with the same mods. Plus according to Uncle Robin, it's the best displacement for the LS3.

Some people like the idea of having more room to grow, even if they never make enough power to max out the 1900.....

Exactly. This would work perfectly, thanks for the link Jason! :drinking:

Just wish I had the cash for it right now... Probably won't be able to do this realistically for a few months, but I'm on the prowl.

2010SSRSM6 04-23-2011 10:40 PM

I think there are enough SoCal people on the prowl that we can get a group buy together if we can all agree on which one we want and a date to push for. :D

Jason7 04-24-2011 01:32 AM

Group buy whipples, I'm in!

Whipple is hands down the best choice for a s/c, all the rest have shortcomings,

Whipple all the way... I was just prowling and found that "deal". The seller is flip flopping though.... sell/not sell... he needs to make up his mind!

I'd be interested as well if i could just dump that 67! LOL. :sm0:

<<vision blurs, genie music plays>>

I hate to do this but i must feed my 5th gen mod craving.

I offer for sale a BEAUTIFUL 2002 - 35th AE Camaro SS....

<<Em shakes Ben>>

BEN BEN... wake up... you were dreaming again!

Tshepp 04-24-2011 08:57 AM

Ears perked up when I heard group buy...

2010SSRSM6 04-24-2011 10:05 AM

Maggie's are about $1500 cheaper than the Whipple, (from my personal shopping around) but if we could get a smoking deal Whipple would be the way i wouldn't mind going. (Thanks Nick!) Honestly you can't go wrong with any of them, well , except maybe the Eforce since it is killing engines. :D

Depending on how long it takes to get my pool installed, I might be ready to do this by the end of summer. :D

Group install day anyone?

IROCanSS 04-24-2011 10:41 AM

EForce is killing engines?? I hadn't heard. Link?

2010SSRSM6 04-25-2011 07:08 PM

There have been three guys on here lose a cyl. JRE had to develop a fuel rail mod to keep it from happening.

If I was going with a 2.3L SC, it would be the Maggy.

The e-force failures have been isolated. But you do need a fuel system upgrade if you want to go that route.

Personally, I like the e-force design.

BAHAHA! :sm0: Dream or nightmare, I'm not sure which! If it weren't for Eme, the 2002 might be in some real jeopardy right now LOL! She loves that car too much, I'd have to really persuade her to let me sell it, and I'm jujst not gonna work that hard to get rid of my baby

Before you purchase a used one, get a quote from Jon at Texas Speed. Texas Speed had the best price when i was in the market 5 months ago. If you have any questions about the Maggie, contact or ask Jessika on the supercharger threads.

Thanks, I'll def do that! I have no qualms about buyin pre-owned, as long as I can get some background on the blower and make it's it's all legit!

Caliman93230 04-25-2011 10:21 PM

you can allways get better prices buying a tuner kit, and then buy the boost pump and injectors separately, if you have longtubes and a cold air intake you can use the saved money for a dyno tune.

No LT's yet, but CAI installed already. I have a JRE tune on the car, still have my SCT...

Noob question: is it possible to get my hands on an S/C that will allow me to run shorties, or the stock mani's even?

You can run the stock or Shorties with the SC, the less restrictive the exhaust, the more boost you will need. I run 6psi with stock manifolds and put 513 to the rear tires.

Damn, not bad!! Those numbers would definitely work for me, how's the driveability? What S/C did you go with?

Maggie 2300 with stock 6 PSI boost. The drivability is great, can't even tell there's a supercharger unless you are getting on it. The gas milage didn't change at all as long as I'm not getting on it too hard. I got 23MPG all the way to the Fest and back.
