Katie's Coffee @ Great Falls, VA... 7:00AM

  • Saturday, November 17, 2012
    7:00 AM
  • Katie's Coffee House
760 Walker Road, Great Falls, VA (map)
Run out into oncoming traffic waving your arms like a lunatic. We'll find you.
  • For those of you who don't know there is a huge gathering of sportscars every Sat. morning in Great Falls, VA. I've included some photos of the past few weeks so if you're a morning person, then you'll see that there is no reason to miss this. We'll be planning cruises from this location later in the season. Attendance is completely open and all cars and guests are welcome.

I've been going to this for years. The "golden age" of Katie's Cars&Coffee is certainly over. It has become WAY too crowded (usually a good thing, but not here) and a lot of the exotic crowd has opted out. A few years ago, it was mostly exotics with a little American muscle and antiques thrown in. Now it's turning into your typical meetup with rows of Mustangs and Corvettes (beautiful cars, please don't take it the wrong way) and a parking lot that's full of kids and people walking around with their dogs (?!?!) at 6:30. You'll still see a few Ferraris, an occasional Lamborghini, and a few other oddities, but if you're looking for a decent parking spot, GET THERE EARLY.

I beg to disagree. Yes, it does get crowded, but that is because the word has gotten out that this early Saturday morning gathering is one where you can pretty much guarantee that you will see something you don't see on an everyday basis. Yes, the main lot is small, but when has anyone complained about seeing tooooo many awesome cars all at once. Seems to me that that is the reason one goes to a car gathering of this sort. There is a great coffee shop (Katie's) that is able to adequately handle the amount of people that can show up on any given Saturday morning. Nothing wrong with the kids, nor the dogs walking around, this is a Saturday morning gathering that happens to center around automobiles. I have been going to this gathering for a couple years now and there isn't a single time I can remember where I thought to myself, "Damn, I should have stayed in the bed." This gathering welcomes all makes and models and everyone I have come in contact with at this meet are great people to be around at 630AM.

I must say, i have been there in 10 degrees to 80 degree weather. One venue is a little lighter than the other, but each venue has enough to capture my interest.
