Thought I had NPP on my 1LE, nope!

Just bought my 2014 2SS 1LE back in December. It was low miles and owner said it was all stock. I checked the build codes in the trunk and it said NPP. I guess I was too excited to get under there and look. I ordered a Forza 3 way controller. I went to install it and lo and behold, there are 2 little flowmaster 409s mufflers under there. I don't know where to begin, but my first thoughts are:

1. How am I such an idiot?

2. Was it just my mind playing tricks on me when I thought my car was louder or quieter at times?

3. Is this actually a good thing? I'm no exhaust expert, but those FlowMasters aren't great, right?

4. Is the exhaust system stock and it's just the mufflers?

5. What else don't I know about my car?

I don't know if I should be mad, sad or happy. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Any input on these questions, from those who know, would be most appreciated. You can skip #1.

I'd be happy...I like the flowmasters.

I have the option of buying an NPP system off of another 1LE owner for $100. That seems like a great deal. Shipping would be extra of course. I just don't know if that is the best next step. Should I be looking at putting that money, plus the cost to do it, towards something that will impact the performance more? I was really looking forward to having control over the volume of the exhaust. Any NPP owner opinions on that?

Volume control is nice but with my npp the difference is negligible until I’m at like 3k or if I’m really on the throttle. Plus, the “loud” is a lot quieter than my flowmasters were so while I do enjoy the sound of the npp mufflers and I enjoy being able to open and close them, I do miss the sound of my flowmasters. Just my two cents

Seems like alot of peeps with the NPP pull the fuse to make them louder anyways. I'd keep the flowmasters, unless you think it's too loud...

Well this is the 1LE section. You sure it's a 1LE?

NPP

It looks like nice work. If you like the sound, keep them

Just as long as it sounds good it does not matter!

Stock cats...might just be a custom cat back...are there resonators in the middle part of the exhaust?

Ezraka 03-13-2018 10:28 PM

Yup! Def a 1LE.

I do like the sound. I was just looking forward to being able to chill it out early in the morning and late at night. I think I'm going to leave it as is.
