Predict the Z/28 EPA Fuel Economy Numbers

Ok, tongue in cheek, but as Mikamaro's thread opines it's quiet in here and that's the only thing no has given a crap about or discussed until the horse stopped breathing.

I vote 12/18

LOL

rebelyell22 10-24-2013 07:08 PM

My guess is 16/21

90503 10-24-2013 07:14 PM

15/24 I think. But that is a much lighter and much more aerodynamic car.

shaffe 10-24-2013 09:00 PM

12 & 18 sounds right

45thCamaro 10-24-2013 09:39 PM

That is a good question, to be honest, I figured that a track only car wouldn't have this info listed lol

ZWA SS 10-25-2013 02:43 AM

12&21

I think anything below 10,000 pound GVW has to have numbers.

And 12/19

Mikamaro 10-25-2013 07:00 AM

So the Z/28 LS7 should at 15/19

Camaro_Corvette 10-25-2013 07:04 AM

That would be my guess.

7 liter motor burns a ton of fuel even at idle verse a 6.2 liter motor. Also watch the video of the run at The Ring. Car looks to be topping out at a little over 160 mph (166ish) on the final straight. (For as long as they ran at that speed I would guess they would have gone up another gear if they had one) That to me looks like the sixth gear is setup to be not that much of an overdrive. (Makes sense on a track car.) With low close ratio gearing inside the trans coupled with a 3.91 final set my guess is the motor will be turning some major revs at highway speeds. So my guess is fuel mileage is going to suck but track car so who cares.

LOL

14/23

6th gear is talllllllll.....;-)

Z06 was rated at xx/24....and no way it gets poorer fuel economy than the ZL1. Power = gas = fuel economy.

2cnd chance 10-25-2013 02:11 PM

Isn't the trans and rear gearing the same as the 1LE? If so the only difference is the 376 vs 427, with maybe a little extra tire and down-force added.

I believe so. Tran just posted specs of the gearing. If I recall correctly 6th gear is 0.5

90503 10-25-2013 04:41 PM

Will it have 1st-4th SkipShift?....That's a mileage gimmick....

Bingo.

Less gimmick - more inconvenience...but it'll have it most likely, either way. They new the ZL1 was going to get hit with the gas tax no matter what, and they still equipped the 'feature'.

gmen09 10-29-2013 03:56 PM

14/17 i'd bet on it

DGthe3 10-29-2013 09:47 PM

15/20

I don't see it being worse than the ZL1, it won't be much better though.

It probably saved buyers a couple hundred bucks by keeping them out of the next GG tax bracket.

RLHMARINES 10-30-2013 12:51 AM

15/22 is my guess.

Mikes SS 10-30-2013 07:05 AM

14/18

I predict it "Doesn't matter to anyone whose planning to buy one".

Mikebrinda 02-12-2014 11:51 AM

What would the gas guzzler tax have been if it were not included in the MSRP?

Bhobbs 02-12-2014 02:44 PM

That LS7 is a thirsty beast.

The GG tax is calculated using a different FE rating than whats printed on the window sticker, and those numbers are rarely released. So I can't say for sure, but the rough conversion is that its combined is the same as the highway mileage for a typical gasoline powered car (hybrids & diesels tend to skew things a bit). The 18.5 to 19.5 bracket for GG is $2100, so thats what I'm thinking it is going to be on the Z/28. Could possibly be lower at 1700, or as much as 2600.
