13.7??

Well we hit up famoso last night. The best I could come up with was a 13.7! And it was the last run of the night. I would really like to get an idea as to why is so high.

I dropped my tires down to about 25, only spun em for about one rotation just to clean them off, power braked it to about 1800...anyone have any thoughts?

What is the altitude? that can make you slower

Denis, there are a lot of factors involved in drag racing, as you've found out it's more than just putting it to the mat when the light turns green. Ok first of all your 60' time could be improved, you should be able to get high 1.9s on the stock tires that will come from playing with the launch. Besides that your car didn't run too bad at all. the DA at 10 pm at your track was 2727, and when you plug your numbers into the calculator, corrected you were at 13.33@107.53. Now if you can knock .15 off of your 60' time that will translate to .3 quicker in the 1/4 which would bring you down to about 13.00. That track is at a similar altitude as my home tracks so when the weather cools down and you can run in DAs under 1000 you'll see better times, but most of all like most of us seat time is what we all need more of. Here's the link to the DA calculator.

Also Denis, are you shifting it or are you letting the computer shift it?

Denis 07-14-2012 12:01 PM

Letting the computer do it. And thanks for that link.

How do you get the 60's down? Just play around with launching rpm and tire pressure?

DandD 07-14-2012 01:26 PM

Yep thats what getting the 60' times down is all about Denis. I could never get mine down below 2.0 until I went with 18" M/T drag radials, now I'm low 1.9s to mid 1.8s. It's all about practice and getting the feel for the launch. If you start getting wheel hop on the launches consider getting trailing arms and toe rods, I've got Pfadt on mine and they helped a LOT. You are correct in letting the computer do the shifting too, are you running with the traction control and stabilitrak off?

Denis 07-14-2012 02:21 PM

I was actually looking at their trailing arms yesterday afternoon. But of the 15 runs I got in last night I really only felt wheel hop once or twice. So I don't think I really NEED them yet so I could focus elsewhere. Headers, dyno tune, drag radials....that kind of stuff.

I'm running with just traction control off. The ass end never wants to step out so I just left the stabilitrac on.

DandD 07-14-2012 07:13 PM

Well it sounds like you're doing everything pretty well, just get more practice and try some launches with both the TC and Stabilitrak off and see how that works out. Different people and cars get different results with the controls off or on.

1.8s on stock Pzeros is well within reason. Trailing arms will help alot with a good launch. Also get a little more heat in the tires.

What's the Weather were you race, your MPH is way slower then it should be.

No time stamp on the slip.. BUT it sure was HOT that day there!

So yeah, that could explain the trap speed!

SGOS252382 07-15-2012 08:01 AM

Please post full timeslip information (or give us the name of the track and time of the run) so we can calculate your Density Altitude.

I'll wait until I see that information before passing judgement. But that 103 mph trap speed scares me. But when corrected for the conditions, it will increase.

With your mods, your corrected trap speed should be around 108-109 mph.

13.7 is a good solid number. What was in the other lane?

Depends on when he ran...

If he ran at 4:00pm then the DA would have been about 4000'! Which would correct that 13.7 down to a 13 flat at 109 MPH... However if he ran say later, at 9:00pm then the DA was more like 2900', which would put him in the 13.3 range...
