Critique my list!

Well it's time for my yearly paint correction so I was looking for some critique on my list from the detailing gurus around here. My biggest question is what coating I should go with. I have heard a lot of good things about cquartz and gtechnique exo. I'm looking for one that is easy to apply and that will make aid in washing and drying. Also, any coating I choose will also go on my wheels... not sure if that matters or not. I was looking at the new opticoat product but saw a lot of people complaining about the amount they sell on other detailing forums so that's out. Let me know what you all think.

Nanoskin Fine Sponge (x2)
CarPro Reload
Meguiar's D101 Bundle
CarPro Cquartz 30ml. Kit
Ultima Waterless Wash
Optimum ONR
Sonax Full Effect
GlassWow

Stuff I'm buying from Adam's:
Tire Shine
Car Wash Soap
Wheel Woolies

Gtechniq C1 overcoated with 2 coats of Exo is great. Application is a little tricky, and if you screw up the you need to re-polish the panel and re do the process. It does not like water less washes as I have experienced so far. Probably best to use the wash sold by Gtechniq.

22PLE is super easy to apply and if you screw up you just use some more to correct it.

I'm itching to try these products as a system.

Cquartz is easy to apply and they have their own car wash for the coating. The car wash is also used for washing other coating manufacturers product. The coating can also be used on more than one surface.

It is just my opinion that once you have the paint correction done, it is best to use the family of products of the coating you plan to use.

Here is another coating site to have a look at.

C1 is out then. I'll do a little more research on it but if it truly does not like waterless washes, then that defeats the purpose of it for me. I travel a lot and from time to time, I will address a few areas that get dirty while on the road with a waterless wash.

I found that water less to be streaky on top of Exo. Might be some wax or something. If you are on the road your car will not get very dirty with a coating anyway. I would feel at ease using a water less wash to remove any dirt that has built up and following up with a detail spray after that.

Exo is much better than CQ IMHO. Exo topped with Sonax PNS is the most hydrophobic, slick surface I've ever seen.

The C1 is available in 30ml. or 50ml. bottles. Do you know if 30 ml. is enough to do a Camaro? Mine's a vert, so I'll need less product than if I were doing a hard top.

Scan data 30 ml will do a Camaro. If you do the C1 plus Exo the exo is usually done in two coats so exo will be 50 mil.

Thanks! I'm very much considering using this combo.

Matt so you did a coat of exo on bare paint and then top with pns? I just did a little reading on pns and it looks very intriguing.

Did you put it on your wheels too?

CamaroDreams07 02-01-2015 12:11 PM

Yes C1 is unnecessary.

Wheels get just PNS, but certainly could get Exo if you wanted to.

Did you buy the 30ml exo or the 50ml to do the whole car? One or two coats?

CamaroDreams07 02-01-2015 01:21 PM

30ml will easily do two coats. I've done two cars, two coats each on a 50.

lscamaro 02-26-2015 11:04 AM

Well it looks like no one has exo in stock at all. Bummer. I was looking to place a big order from autopia with their current promotion. I guess I'll wait on it
