Really low mpg
Ok only had car about 2 weeks and am only getting 12.5 mpg and dont have a heavy foot by any means actually i baby the crap out of it. It is a 2010 2ss. Is this normal and if not what can i do the fix it? I have seen things about doing a reset on here and also the type of gas? Thanks for the help in advance

Yea that's pretty low. Especially for the automatic with AFM. Can't speak much for babying it lol, but I drive mine pretty hard and get about 15 - 17 around town.
It goes without saying, i hope you're using premium gas. that will improve MPG.
and yeah, that is quite low. I have quite the heavy foot and i'm getting ~18MPG with most of my time spent driving in the city. my MPG did increase a tad after doing the Fuse Pull. Should reset your fuel map. this is crucial for a 2010 SS auto IMO--they're usually the models that have this problem.. You'll notice a difference. really easy to do. here's the instructions |
Get a V6
before I started modding my L99, on the hwy, I would easily get 25-28 mpg. Now with the SC, I get 22 mpg.
Get it checked out.
Ya I'd probably get it checked out. I have an L99 and I usually drive it pretty aggressively and my DIC says I'm around 17.5 mpg....and my AFM is disabled.
All depends on your definition of city driving - what is your average speed on the DIC?
I do all city driving, and my average speeds never gets over 15mph, with lots of start/stop traffic. I have a v6 and never get more then 15mpg. For me its not the cars fault, its the kind of driving I do. |
Wow thats low I have a ZL1 and still in break in process and im even avg 17 mpg.
my avg speed is 25 mph and i only drive it about 15 miles a day.
Press and hold the reset button on the directional signal stick (left side if you're sitting in the driver seat). Let the system reset the average mpg. Drive it for a week. See what happens.
I have a V6 and I got pretty bad mileage, too. At first. Over time, it drastically improved. I'm guessing the same will happen for you once the motor breaks in. I agree with Hannibal. After a while, resetting the meter definitely showed improvements for me.
Drive 65 mph on the highway and don't let it idle too long. If its still an issue, take it in the shop.
I feel your pain man, I DD my SS in southern cali, and with traffic here, I'm generally in the 12.5-13.5 mpg range, but then I get some open tarmac, punch it and have zero regrets.
